Iโ€™m looking forward to delivering a range of tracking courses this year, including some exciting collaborations!

Iโ€™m looking forward to hosting CyberTracker evaluator John Rhyder again for some tracking certifications in Moray.

Iโ€™ve been a keen naturalist since I was a little kid and really got the tracking bug around 2003 (in my 20s). Iโ€™ve been studying and practicing tracking pretty obsessively since then, and I find it to be an incredibly effective, powerful way and fun way to connect to nature. It gives us a rich insight into the lives of other species around us and the astonishing web of life we are a part of.

I have some other tracking courses in the pipeline up along with the Terrific Trees week Aigas Field Centre stargazing and more!

We are inviting communities across the Highlands and Moray to take part in discussions about the possible return of lynx to northern Scotland ๐Ÿ† This month, the Lynx to Scotland partnership is launching a wide-ranging community and stakeholder discussion, with dozens of local events planned across the region. These will offer information and gather local views on the benefits and concerns that would come with the speciesโ€™ return.

โ€œNorthern Scotland can support a thriving population of lynx, but social acceptance is just as important โ€“ so weโ€™re exploring in detail how people feel about bringing back this important missing native species,โ€ says Steve Micklewright, CEO.

Studies show the region contains some of Scotlandโ€™s best lynx habitat, with enough woodland and wild prey to support up to 250 of these elusive cats. Lynx pose no threat to people and are a missing native species that play an important role in healthy ecosystems.

A carefully managed reintroduction could bring benefits for biodiversity, landscapes, communities and businesses - including helping to manage deer numbers and supporting nature-based tourism - while recognising and addressing potential impacts.

Well, it is approximately 115 days or 3 months and 25 days till our swifts arrive back! Not that i am counting or anything ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ˜‚

Don't forget our House Martins and Swallows will return before that! So why not be ready for them with some new nesting cups before April?

The Sand Martins will arrive back even earlier in March!
