It's Volunteers' Week🤩

Our breastfeeding peer support volunteers give so much to our organisation and our local families.

Our infant feeding peer support volunteer coordinator Adele shared

"This Volunteers’ Week, I want to shine a light on something truly special - our Breastfeeding Peer Support Volunteers.

Every day, these incredible individuals give their time, kindness, and lived experience to support families across Grampian, offering a listening ear, a reassuring word and a reminder that no one has to navigate feeding their baby on their own.

They are the friendly face at some of our groups, you might see them in the postnatal wards or they might be the encouraging message in your phone offering calm reassurance and signposting during what can sometimes feel like overwhelming moments.

More babies are receiving breastmilk at 6-8 weeks than ever before. We have much more to do, of course, but that is a significant milestone and peer support has contributed to the achievement of that. We are building a Breastfeeding Friendly Scotland.

Thank you to each and every one of you. You are making a difference."

✨ Sunscreen and Breastfeeding ✨

With record-breaking heat expected this week, here's a little reminder that you can use sunscreen as normal while breastfeeding

🌞 Staying safe in the sun:

Most of us don't apply enough sunscreen. Around 6 to 8 teaspoons is the recommended amount to cover your whole body.

For babies under 6 months, sunscreen isn't recommended - keeping them in the shade and out of direct sunlight is the best way to protect them.

For babies 6 months and over, and older children, a sunscreen of at least SPF 30 is recommended, and they should spend the hottest part of the day - usually between 11am and 3pm - in the shade.

Breastfed babies under 6 months do not need extra water - they can be breastfed as many times as they need. If you're bottle feeding, your baby can have small sips of cooled boiled water as they need it.

Babies over 6 months should be offered milk or water with meals. In hot weather, you can offer some extra water outside of mealtimes.
.. And don't forget to keep yourself hydrated!

We need to share knowledge because if you don’t know something, you can’t do better. In order to avoid positional asphyxiation, you need a good fit in your babies car seat.

Check out the post & pictures below for more information! ⬇️

At Simply Safe we are not ‘just selling car seats’ we are selling peace of mind, trust, education, and passion!

When you find a car seat retailer you really trust, buying car seats is easy, because if we wouldn’t put our own babies in it - we don’t sell it!

Look at the difference in the positioning, on the left we have the Avionaut Cosmo that starts from £139, an affordable, and supportive seat for your baby.

On the right we have the popular Nuna P**a, which comes up £100 more in price, with the offering that your baby can’t breathe very well, with their chin shoved into the chest.

What would you choose?

🤰 Tag any pregnant ladies you know, share knowledge, knowledge is power!
