Parkinson's Beats

Parkinson's Beats We are Parkinson’s Beats, an exercise drumming group for people living with neurological conditions. Welcome to Parkinson's Beats. Our aim, drum and have fun!

We formed in 2022 with help from Parkinson's UK Scotland activity grant. More recently we have been awarded a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund. Exercise Drumming is fully inclusive: it can be done seated or standing, using one arm or two, or your whole body if you are able. The movements are as strong or gentle as the individual’s or group's ability dictates. It is suitable for all a

ge groups and all abilities. There are no standards to achieve, no right or wrong way to drum, just enjoy.

Most of my fellow drummers will know that my husband Gordon Holland lost a brave and very painful battle with cancer on 29th December 2025. His funeral will be held at 1100 am on 19th January 2026 at W G Catto in Elgin. As a mark of respect and to allow group members to attend if they want to, i have decided to cancel drumming on that morning only. Normal service will resume from 22nd January.

We had a superb day at the Aberdeen Parkinsons Support Group. What a superb reception we were given and every face had a smile on it, or a giggle. They drummed on their yoga balls, they drummed on their knees and they drummed on the table. It felt triumphant! Thanks Aberdeen for really engaging with us and what can I say about the 'boy band'. We really hope to see some of you online sometime?

So sorry we missed you Gary Laing
