Misogyny isn’t just a women’s issue. It’s a leadership issue. 🗣️

Misogyny directly impacts organisational culture, risk, retention, performance, and trust. For leaders, this isn’t just about ideology, it’s about leadership accountability and cultural health.

Be part of the conversation and sign up to our event taking place Thursday 5 March: Beyond Bias: Confronting Misogyny as a Leadership Issue.

Delivered in partnership with Change The Chat, Scotland’s first anti-misogyny workplace service, this is a strategic opportunity for leaders to look below the surface.

Misogyny isn’t just a "women’s issue", it impacts risk, retention, performance, and trust for everyone. To build a modern workplace, we need to understand how gendered norms and everyday biases shape who gets heard and who feels safe.

In this session, we will help leaders:

🔺Spot the Unseen: Recognise subtle micro-aggressions and silencing behaviours.

🔺 Understand Systemic biases: See how systems can unknowingly reinforce inequality.

🔺 Engage Colleagues: Explore the crucial role men can play as gatekeepers of culture.

🔺 Lead with Confidence: Learn to lead conversations about misogyny

It’s National Mentoring Month! Let’s hear from our Charity Leadership Scotland mentees. 🎤

Watch the video to see the impact of the programme. 👉

We often talk about the structure of our Mentoring Programme, but the real magic happens in the private, one-to-one conversations between leaders. It’s about having a safe space to test ideas, a sounding board for challenges, and a fresh perspective when you need it most.

Thank you to every mentor and mentee who has been part of this journey so far. You are the reason this programme works. A special thanks to Gill Bain, Gillian Middleton, Jamie McIntosh and Fiona Arnott Barron for their kind words on their experiences.

📣Strategic Partner Spotlight: Utility Aid💡

At Charity Leadership Scotland, we are proud to work across different sectors to build a stronger future for the voluntary sector.

We believe that real change happens when we combine our community's resilience with the expertise of our partners. That is why our Collaborators work closely with us, and each other, to shape strategic priorities and drive meaningful impact for Scotland’s charity leaders.

To kick off our Strategic Partner Spotlight, we are introducing: Utility Aid. 👋

You might recognise them as the Title Sponsor at last year’s Annual Conference, where Ruaire Glackin delivered a fantastic session on organisational sustainability, but our partnership goes far beyond a single event.

As the energy crisis continues to challenge the sector, Utility Aid brings vital stability to our community.

They support our members by:
🔵 Auditing Consumption: They help organisations identify exactly where energy (and money) is being wasted.

🔵 Avoiding Risk: They help charities avoid the "lowest price trap," prioritizing suppliers with financial resilience so you don't get caught out by supplier failure.

🔵Mapping Net Zero: Moving beyond the jargon to provide a realistic journey to Net Zero that balances cost-saving with carbon-saving.

As Giles Hankinson (CEO, Utility Aid) puts it:
"True value comes from competitive pricing combined with financial stability, reliable service, and proper understanding of what charities actually need from their energy partners."

Our relationship with Utility Aid illustrates our newly unveiled Strategic Partnership Framework.

Throughout the month, we will continue highlighting the Strategic Partners who help make our work possible.

On Tuesday, 27 January, we are delving into Fractional Recruitment, a sustainable model that allows organisations to share senior talent and split the cost.

In our upcoming Leader Learning session, we are bringing in the leadership peers who are putting this unique strategy into action.

Lorna Wilson (CEO, Barrhead Housing Association) and Richard Fairley (Head of People & Culture) will walk us through their live case study of collaboration across Barrhead, Cloch, and Dalmuir Park Housing Associations.

Join us to learn:
🔹 How to access expertise without the full-time price tag.
🔹 The practicalities of sharing roles across multiple organisations.
🔹 How to make this unique collaboration model work for your charity.

If you are looking for creative ways to manage resources in 2026, you cannot afford to miss this! 📢

Say Hello 👋 To the Charity Leadership Scotland Mentors.

To kick off National Mentoring Month and celebrate Day, we wanted to shine a light on the fantastic leaders who support their peers through our Mentoring Programme.

So why do they do it?

💬 "It allows for self-reflection and development." — Graham Boyack

💬 "An opportunity to feel that I am giving something back" — Barry Matheson

What is the programme? 🤔We connect members with experienced leaders who understand the realities of senior leadership. The Mentoring Programme fosters confidential, one-to-one relationships designed to offer shared opportunities for growth, confidence building, and support to navigate challenges in a safe space.

Follow along this month: 🙌 Throughout January, we will be sharing more stories from the mentors and mentees who make this programme so special. Make sure you are following so you don't miss their insights.

Good news! 🥂 Our Mentoring Programme is currently recruiting! Whether you are a Charity Leader seeking mentorship or are looking to contribute your expertise as a mentor, now is the time to join as we kick off the New Year.
