Our delegation of Unison Lothian Health Branch Officers, Tracy Anne Miller and Carolyn Casey along with Stephen Smellie, South Lanarkshire LG Branch and William Shearer, North Lanarkshire LG Branch start their journey to Kharkiv in Ukraine early tomorrow morning. Whilst we dont have a final total as money is still coming in, we have raised in excess of £16,000. This money will be used to make the lives of the every day people still living in the city just a wee bit more bearable.
We want to thank every single Trade Union, multiple Unison branches, our Stewards, members and all others who donated to this cause. We hope that this will show the people of Ukraine, that the people of Scotland have not forgotten them and we stand with them in solidarity.
Finally, we wish our 4 delegates a safe journey and that you are able to use the money to help ease the lives of our fellow human beings.

Unison General Secretary Election

Every 5 years, Unison members have the opportunity to elect its General Secretary.
The General Secretary is the most senior role in the union. They represent UNISON when talking to the media, other unions, employers and to Parliament.

The ballot will open on October 28th. This follows on from the official nomination period which ends today. Further information on the election will be posted here just prior to the opening of the ballot. Including which candidate our branch has nominated.

It is vital that as many members as possible take their opportunity to cast their vote, to ensure a robust democratic process in electing your General Secretary for the next 5 years.
