Shakti Women’s Aid is an organisation based in Edinburgh, working since 1986 to offer support, advocacy and information to all black / minority ethnic women, children and young people experiencing and/or fleeing domestic abuse from:

• partners / husbands
• ex-partners
• other family members. If you think you or someone you know might be suffering from domestic abuse, you can contact us for help

on 0131 475 2399. If you are not sure if you are suffering from domestic abuse and you want to find out what domestic abuse is or what kind of support is available, please follow the links on our website to find out more information. Remember - if you are in immediate danger call 999.

FREE SUMMER ADVICE DROP-IN in EDINBURGH ☀️
Are you worried about your immigration status, rising household costs, housing issues, employment rights, debt, or accessing benefits?
Join us for our Summer Advice Drop-In, where local organisations will be offering free, confidential advice and support for individuals and families. Whether you need help understanding your rights, navigating immigration processes, dealing with debt, maximising your income, or finding support with wellbeing, we're here to help.

The Support for Migrant Victims (SMV) Scheme is open for referrals.

The scheme supports migrant women and their children anywhere in Scotland who are experiencing domestic abuse and have No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF).

Eligible survivors may be able to access:
• Safe accommodation
• Weekly subsistence payments
• Specialist domestic abuse support
• Referrals for immigration advice and representation

Referrals can be made by third-sector organisations, local authorities and statutory agencies.
