Stretching, breathing, growing 🧘‍♀️💛

We're so pleased to have introduced yoga classes for the children in our HopScotch groups! A little movement and mindfulness can make a big difference - helping to build confidence, improve focus, and support emotional wellbeing.

The best part? These are simple techniques the children can take home with them, giving them a gentle tool to help manage stress and look after their mental health whenever they need it. 🌱

Small moments of calm can have a lasting impact - and we're proud to be able to offer that to our HopScotch families.

Join us on Thursday 1st October at the stunning Ghillie Dhu, Edinburgh for a night of dinner, entertainment and dancing - all in support of children and families facing challenging circumstances.

⏳ FINAL CALL - London Marathon 2027 places with HopScotch

We have 4 charity places left, and applications close Thursday 14 August, 9am.

We've had a huge response already, so if you've been thinking about it, now's the moment to stop thinking about it. Run 26.2 miles through London, raise money for children and young people across Scotland, and know exactly who you're doing it for.

"Can I go again?" 🐴

Pony riding is the activity our children ask for most - and the one that changes them the fastest.

Almost every child arrives wanting to ride and nervous about actually doing it. The pony is big. The ground looks far away. Then they're up, they're moving, and you can watch it happen in real time: shoulders drop, grip loosens, and a smile arrives that wasn't there five minutes earlier.

That's the moment. Not the riding itself, but the discovery that they could do the thing they were frightened of. Confidence, self-belief and resilience aren't taught in a session - they're built in small moments like this one, and children carry them home.

And without fail, they want to know when they can ride again. 💙

🌟 Meet our newest Trustee: Stephen Kenny 🌟

We're delighted to welcome Stephen to the HopScotch Children's Charity board of trustees.

Stephen's journey with HopScotch started on the other side - as someone who used our services as a volunteer supporting groups in his own community. Today he works at Whiterose Community Hall, bringing people together at a grassroots level every single week.

That's exactly the kind of voice a children's charity board needs: someone with lived experience, real community roots, and a genuine understanding of the families we support.

At HopScotch, we give children life-changing respite breaks - safe, happy spaces to explore, play, make friends, and simply feel free. First ferry rides. First paddles in the sea. First time feeling truly carefree.

These aren't just fun days out. They're moments that build confidence, resilience and hope - memories that stay with a child for the rest of their life.
