A little bit of love goes a long way in our garden! 🍎🌱

Our community garden doesn’t just happen by itself – it keeps growing and thriving thanks to Trudi and our brilliant garden volunteers, who give their time throughout the year to plant, tend, w**d and care for this special space.

Now the garden is getting ready for harvest, with our apples ripening, almost ready to be picked and pressed at our Harvest Festival on Saturday 5th September.

There’ll also be garden activities with Trudi and our volunteers, as well as a plant sale, giving you the chance to find out more about what’s growing here and perhaps take something home for your own garden.

Why not bring along a picnic blanket, find a spot on the grass or settle at one of our picnic benches, and take some time to enjoy the garden and the atmosphere? We’re keeping our fingers crossed for a beautiful September day (we've always been lucky with our fun days)! ☀️

Come along from 11am–2pm and enjoy everything our garden and community have to offer.

It’s a free community event and everyone is welcome. 💚

🍎 Ever wondered how apples become apple juice?

At our Harvest Festival, you'll get the chance to see our community apple pressing in action!

We'll be gathering apples from our gardens and pressing them to make fresh apple juice – turning the fruit growing right here in our garden into something delicious to drink.

It's a lovely way to celebrate the harvest and see where our food comes from, and we're looking forward to sharing it with the community.

Come along on Saturday 5th September, 11am–2pm and try out the apple press for yourself – as well as getting involved with all the other activities happening in the garden.

🌱 Free to attend and everyone welcome!

Bakers - we need you!

Our Harvest Festival is coming up soon, and we're looking for donations of homemade bakes for our popular bake sale. Whether it's cakes, traybakes, scones, biscuits, muffins or other sweet treats, we'd be delighted to include them on our stall.

If you'd like to bake something for us, please get in touch or drop your bakes off at the centre on Friday 4th September or before 10:30am on Saturday 5th September.

Every slice sold helps raise funds to support the activities, groups and services we provide throughout the year for our local community.

Thank you for your support 🤩

Are you ready for the eclipse tonight? We had fun today making our Eclipse-watching pinhole projectors from A3 cardboard, tin foil and sellotape! We learned that we couldn't look directly at the ecllipse since it can damage the back of your eye, even for less than one minute.

So the Tea and Toast folks tried making these projectors earlier today to see if the pin hole camera boxes worked, ready for our viewing this evening. Send in your ideas too for safely watching this once in a lifetime event between 6-8pm tonight.

Here's the link for making this projector box: https://www.asc-csa.gc.ca/eng/youth-educators/activities/fun-experiments/eclipse-projector.asp
Have fun!

A huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers, Sylvia and Cecile, who planned and delivered our Summer Kids' Craft Club over the last six weeks – and to Sam, who stepped in to lend a hand during our busiest sessions! 💚

From clay art and dream catchers to beautiful vases and painting, the children have had a fantastic time getting creative, making new friends and taking home some amazing handmade crafts. Here are just a few of the brilliant creations from across the summer! 🎨🌿

We simply couldn't run sessions like these without the time, energy and enthusiasm of our volunteers, so a huge thank you to Sylvia, Cecile and Sam for helping make the summer holidays so much fun for local families.

If your little ones missed out this time, don't worry... 👀 We're already planning some more crafty fun for the October holidays, so keep an eye on our page for more details coming soon!

If you or your child came along to any of the sessions, we'd love to hear what you thought! Please leave us a comment below and let us know your favourite activity, what you enjoyed most, or any ideas you'd love to see at future craft clubs. Your feedback helps us make our sessions even better.
