A slower pace. Fresh air. Time that is your own.
From Friday 19th June to Tuesday 23rd June 2026, a group of carers will spend four nights on the Isle of Lismore with Care for Carers.

This Stepping Out break focuses on balance. Guided exploration of the island, creative activities and shared meals sit alongside time to rest and reset. Carers can walk, take in the coastal surroundings and spend time with others who understand the demands of caring.

Lismore’s landscape shapes the experience. A narrow island with one main track, it encourages movement and connection with the environment, so a good level of fitness is important.

All residential breaks are fully booked for this year. If you want to understand more about how these breaks support carers and what to expect, we are happy to share more.

You told us what matters to you. We listened and built it into our programme.

At Care for Carers, our information workshops respond directly to what carers ask for. You can join sessions on practical topics like legal advice, or take time for yourself through creative workshops such as art and wellbeing activities.

These sessions are shaped by real experiences. If a workshop fills quickly, we run it again so more carers can take part. Your feedback drives what happens next.

You will find upcoming workshops in our Carers Newsletter and across our Still Caring programme. If something speaks to you, sign up early and secure your place.

This is support that adapts to your needs, not a fixed offer.

Your experience as an unpaid carer matters. Here is a chance to share it live on national radio.

As part of BBC Caring Matters Week, BBC Radio Scotland is hosting a live programme focused on unpaid carers across Scotland.

🗓 Monday 26th May
⏰ 10am – 12pm
📍 BBC Scotland, Glasgow or join remotely

The programme will feature real conversations with carers about daily life, the challenges you manage, and the support that makes a difference. It will also include a financial advice segment designed specifically for unpaid carers.

You do not need to commit to the full session. You can join for a short time, take part remotely, or attend in person. You are also welcome to attend with the person you care for if that feels right for you.

Care for Carers believes services should be shaped by lived experience. This is an opportunity to influence understanding and highlight what support carers truly need.

Spaces for the live audience are limited, so early interest is encouraged.

At the end of May, carers will travel to the Isle of Arran for a three night Stepping Out break from Friday 29th May to Monday 1st June.

They will stay in a comfortable hotel and spend their days outdoors. Gentle hill walks, guided exploration and time across Arran’s varied landscapes give structure to the break while keeping it accessible for those with a good level of fitness.

Alongside the activity, there is space to pause. Walking along the shoreline, taking in the sea air and having time without responsibility allows carers to reset. Being part of a small group creates a sense of ease and shared understanding from the moment you arrive.

Our residential breaks are fully booked for this year. If you are interested in how these experiences are shaped and what to expect, get in touch to find out more.

Happy Easter from all of us at Care 4 Carers. 🐰🐣
You spend so much of your time caring for others. Today is a reminder that your wellbeing matters too.

Across Scotland, carers are stepping away from daily routines and reconnecting with themselves through our programmes. From city theatre trips to quiet island breaks, from creative workshops to shared meals, these experiences give you space to reset and connect with others who understand.

Have a fantastic Easter weekend!

Looking for a creative way to switch off for an afternoon?
Join our Spray Painting Workshop on Wednesday 6th May, 2pm to 3.45pm at St Margaret’s House, Studio G6.

This relaxed indoor session takes place in the welcoming studio of Jane Artyfarty Art. You will experiment with spray painting techniques, bright acrylic colours and marker pens while creating bold designs on “The Wall”.

Try simple card cut-outs, explore bubble lettering, experiment with cartoon styles and see where your imagination takes you. No experience required. Just bring your curiosity and enjoy time away from your caring role in a friendly creative space.

Sessions like this are part of our Still Caring programme, which offers carers the chance to reconnect with creativity, meet others and take time for themselves.

Many unpaid carers in their 30s and 40s are balancing several roles at once.
They are working, raising families and supporting a loved one who depends on them every day.

This group often has the least time to seek support. That means their wellbeing is frequently overlooked.

At Care 4 Carers, we are working to change that.

Our Stepping Out residential breaks and Still Caring activities create practical opportunities for carers to step away from their responsibilities for a short time. Carers travel across Scotland, experience creative workshops, theatre visits, nature activities and shared meals with others who understand their role.

These moments help carers reconnect with themselves and build supportive friendships that continue long after the activity ends.

We want to see more working age carers join these experiences and shape future programmes through their feedback.

If you are caring for someone while also managing work or family life, we want to hear from you.
