Great Commission Society

Great Commission Society A global movement seeking to communicate the Good News of the Gospel message relevantly to every person in all the world.

A global movement that seeks to fulfil the great commission of the Lord Jesus Christ, by providing a substantial training curriculum for groups, reinforced by a robust mentoring programme for individuals so that they may be equipped for effective personal evangelism and discipleship training. Historically, evangelism has typically become an impersonal event or presentation that stops as soon as it

is finished without maintaining an integral part of personal day to day living. Our objective is to work closely with individuals, groups and church movements to provide relevant training to help them practically reach out to friends, family and acquaintances with the clarity of the Gospel message through both words and actions in order to effectively lead people to Christ.

Today, Ukraine marks 35 years of independence.

For Ukrainians, independence is no longer simply a chapter in their history. It is something being defended every single day.

Behind the headlines and statistics are millions of ordinary people whose lives have been changed by war. Families have buried loved ones. Children have grown up beneath the sound of air-raid sirens. Homes have been destroyed, communities displaced, and countless people continue to live with uncertainty about what tomorrow may bring.

Yet Ukraine still stands.

Since February 2022, GCS has had the privilege of standing alongside the Ukrainian people. Month after month, through some of the darkest periods of this war, our teams and partners have continued bringing food, humanitarian aid, practical care and the hope of the Gospel to communities living with its consequences.

We have witnessed terrible suffering. We have also witnessed extraordinary courage, generosity, faith and resilience.

So today, we do more than commemorate Ukraineโ€™s independence. We remember the human cost of defending it.

We pray for those protecting their nation and communities. We pray for the grieving, the displaced and the wounded. We pray for children who deserve to grow up knowing peace rather than war. We pray for justice, for healing, and for the day when families can rebuild their lives without fear.

Month after month, we will continue to stand with Ukraine, bringing practical aid and the hope of Christ into communities deeply affected by the war. We remain committed for as long as the need remains.

Ukraine, you are not forgotten. We have stood with you through these years of war. We stand with you today. We will continue to stand with you.

โ€œThe light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.โ€ (John 1:5)

We continue to receive updates directly from our colleague Daniel as communities in Colombia face the devastating aftermath of the earthquake.

The images coming through are deeply sobering. Rescue teams continue working around collapsed buildings, while families are grieving, displaced and facing the loss of homes and livelihoods.

Daniel and his family remain actively involved in their local community, helping to distribute urgently needed supplies and standing alongside families affected by the disaster.

Immediate needs on the ground include drinking water and hydration supplies, non-perishable food, torches and practical equipment to help communities clear debris and begin the difficult work of recovery.

GCS remains in close contact with Daniel as needs continue to emerge. Through our Colombia Appeal, we are responding to the practical priorities being identified by our colleagues on the ground, helping to get support where it is most needed.

Please continue to pray for those searching through the rubble, for the injured and displaced, and for families grieving or still waiting for news. Pray also for Daniel, his family and all those serving, for protection, strength, wisdom and endurance.

โ€œBear one anotherโ€™s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.โ€ (Galatians 6:2)

The Great Commission Society is deeply concerned by the devastating situation unfolding in Colombia following the powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake.

Lives have been lost, hundreds are injured, homes have been destroyed and families displaced. Rescue and relief efforts continue as communities face the immediate consequences of this disaster.

This crisis is particularly close to us. Our colleague Daniel and his family are serving within their local community, distributing urgently needed food, water and supplies, and standing alongside families affected by the earthquake.

GCS remains in close contact with Daniel as needs emerge and is responding alongside our colleagues on the ground.

Please pray for Daniel and his family, for their protection, strength and wisdom. Pray for the emergency workers, volunteers and all those involved in the relief effort. Above all, pray for those who are grieving, the injured, the displaced and those still waiting for news of loved ones.

Faith and action belong together. We pray, we give and we serve.

โ€œIn the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.โ€ (James 2:17)

GCS has established a Colombia Appeal to provide practical support to families affected by this disaster.

Please pray for Colombia, and for all those serving in the midst of this tragedy.

This August, join us in casting the Gospel net through prayer.

The latest edition of our INSPIRE Prayer Diary invites us to pray each day for Southern Europe, the forthcoming GCS mission to Kenya, least-reached peoples, persecuted believers, emerging Christian leaders, and communities facing urgent spiritual and humanitarian need.

Together, let us pray for open doors, courageous witnesses, strengthened churches, and a lasting Gospel harvest among the nations.

Inspiring prayer for the Great Commission, every day of the month.

Ukraine: Civilians Killed in Sumy Air Attack

Great Commission Society is deeply saddened by reports that Russian guided aerial bombs struck a populated civilian area in Sumy today.

Current reports indicate that at least five people, including a child, have been killed and around 30 others injured. Residential buildings, vehicles and public infrastructure were also damaged as emergency services continued rescue operations.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to every family who has lost a loved one and pray for those recovering from their injuries, as well as for the emergency responders and medical teams working tirelessly to save lives.

Great Commission Society remains committed to supporting the people of Ukraine through our ongoing humanitarian response, providing food, medical assistance and practical support to communities affected by the war.

Please join us in praying for peace, for the protection of civilians, and for strength, wisdom and safety for all those serving in humanitarian relief.

The Gospel was never meant to remain within the walls of the Church.

Next week, Great Commission Society will undertake a focused mission across Warsaw, Ostrรณw Wielkopolski, Kalisz and Kutno, taking the message of Jesus Christ into places where hope is deeply needed, while equipping believers to carry that message forward.

Over five intensive days, GCS CEO Tony Anthony will minister in prisons, rehabilitation centres, on the streets, among young people and in local churches, alongside dedicated evangelism training in several locations.

This is pioneering mission in practice. Not simply holding meetings, but opening new doors, strengthening local partnerships, entering difficult and often overlooked spaces, and investing in believers who will continue the work long after the mission has ended.

Some will hear the Gospel behind prison walls. Some while rebuilding lives through rehabilitation. Some on a city street. Some among a new generation of young people. Some within the life of the local church.

Different places. Different stories. The same Gospel. The same hope.

We are deeply grateful for the churches, leaders and local believers opening doors across Poland. Please stand with us in prayer for courage, wisdom, protection, open hearts and lasting fruit.

For those who would like to support this pioneering work practically or financially, your partnership helps us go where doors are opening and strengthen Gospel ministry for the future.

Proclaiming the Gospel. Equipping the Church. Reaching beyond the walls. ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฑ Poland | 15โ€“19 July 2026

Warning: This post contains a deeply distressing image of the human cost of war.

According to credible reports, a mother, father and son were killed together during a Russian strike on Kyiv, and recovered by rescuers from the ruins of their home.

The image is deeply distressing. Yet perhaps what should disturb us most is not simply what can be seen in a photograph, but the reality that lies behind it.

This is war.

Behind every report of missiles, drones, military advances and political statements are human beings. Families who went to sleep expecting to wake the next morning. Parents. Children. Grandparents. People with names, memories, hopes and plans.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, GCS teams have spent considerable time serving in Ukraine. We have stood among shattered homes, walked through communities torn apart by war, helped evacuate civilians from danger, and listened to people whose lives changed in a matter of seconds.

Yet we must never become accustomed to it.

Repeated exposure to suffering must never be allowed to make us indifferent.

Scripture tells us that every human being is made in the image of God. That truth gives immeasurable value to every life. It also means that when human beings are crushed beneath the violence of this world, we should not look away.

Jesus said, โ€œBlessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.โ€

We remember this family. We remember the many others whose names will never reach our news feeds. We think of those still searching through rubble, those waiting beside hospital beds, and those receiving the phone call that changes everything.

Lord, have mercy. Comfort those who mourn. Restrain the hand of evil. Bring an end to this terrible war. Keep our own hearts from becoming numb to the suffering of others.

May we never forget that peace is precious, life is sacred, and behind every statistic is a soul.

For more than four years, GCS teams have continued serving people affected by this war. If you would like to stand with that ongoing work:

The scale of devastation following the earthquakes in Venezuela continues to grow.

At least 2,954 people are now confirmed dead, with more than 16,000 injured. Tens of thousands have been displaced, including more than 16,300 people reported to have lost their homes, while a further 28,300 are facing homes considered uninhabitable or at risk.

Behind every number is a person, a family, a life changed forever.

Right now, 22 GCS volunteers from Canada and the USA are serving on the ground in hard-hit La Guaira, working among communities facing profound loss, displacement and uncertainty.

The need is urgent.

Please pray for protection, wisdom, strength and provision for our teams as they serve. Pray for grieving families, for those still searching for loved ones, and for communities facing the enormous task of surviving and rebuilding.

If you can help, please act today.
