At the Great Commission Society (GCS), we believe the Gospel belongs everywhere, not only in places of comfort and openness, but also among those living in warzones, forgotten communities, hostile environments, and regions where the name of Jesus is rarely heard.

For us, mission is not a theory. It is a living reality carried into some of the most demanding places on earth. From frontline humanitarian operations in conflict zones, to prison systems, refugee communities, remote tribal regions, and spiritually resistant nations, our teams work to bring both practical help and the hope of Christ to people often overlooked by the world.

We are committed not simply to relief, but to presence. Not simply to charity, but to transformation.

Every month, GCS missionaries and partners continue serving in environments shaped by persecution, poverty, instability, displacement, and deep spiritual need. In many of these places, opportunities for the Gospel are fragile, rare, and deeply significant.

Forty days after the resurrection, Jesus Christ ascended into heaven before the eyes of His disciples. It was not an ending, but a declaration. The cross was sufficient. The tomb was empty. The mission of salvation was complete.

Yet perhaps one of the most striking things about the ascension is this: the scars remained.

The risen Christ did not ascend as a distant philosopher or a religious symbol. He ascended as the Lamb who was slain. The marks of sacrifice were still upon Him. A reminder that heaven itself bears witness to the cost of our redemption.

In a world searching for meaning, identity, and hope, Ascension Day quietly reminds us that Jesus is alive, reigning, and still calling people to Himself. Christianity is not merely a moral system or tradition. It is the announcement that the Son of God entered human history, conquered death, and now offers forgiveness and eternal life to all who will come to Him in repentance and faith.

The question is not simply whether Christ ascended.

The question is whether we have truly surrendered our lives to the One who did.

Really encouraged to already be putting our new South African Rand Gospel Tracts into use here on the ground in Johannesburg.

Designed around the familiar appearance of local currency, they have already been opening conversations and capturing attention in a natural and effective way, pointing people toward something far more valuable than money itself, the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Simple tools. Eternal message.

Somalia is facing a convergence of pressures few nations can withstand. Failed rains, sudden flooding, rising costs, and fragile supply chains are pushing communities to the edge. For millions, this is not a short crisis. It is a daily reality.

GCS is operating quietly within this environment.

We do not have a permanent base. Access is limited and visibility is not always wise. In recent weeks, our teams have worked through trusted relationships to reach communities beyond most structured responses.

Water wells are being installed where access has collapsed. Clean water becomes stability, dignity, and survival.

At the same time, younger generations are being reached through carefully facilitated sports outreach, creating space for trust, faith, and renewed hope.

This work carries real risk. Somalia remains one of the most complex environments in which to serve. Every step requires discernment and resolve.

We are now exploring carefully aligned partnerships to deepen this work. The focus is not scale, but faithful presence in places that remain out of reach.

The need is intensifying.

The work continues, quietly and with conviction.
