Talk given today by Tim Schmaltz, the Canadian sculptor of the Homeless Jesus. Tim spoke very eloquently and informatively about his work and what motivates him to create his sculptures.

A few of our volunteers attended the Concert for the Homeless Jesus yesterday. A brilliant evening of music and reflection and also of appreciation of the work of organisations in the city such as Edinburgh Street Pastors, Bethany Christian Trust, Grassmarket Community Project and St Catherine's Convent of Mercy in being there for the homeless in their hour of need.

On Tuesday, 21st July 2026, PCs Duncan and Sinclair from South Perthshire Community Policing Team had the pleasure of attending “Magnitude”; an annual 5-day Christian Youth Festival for young people aged 11-18 years, held at Lendruick Muir near Kinross. It is attended by various youth organisations from all across Scotland and was a huge success, totalling around 2300 attendees. We had a great time chatting to all the different groups and even got to meet a group who had come across from America to support the event.

Young people are often stereotyped as being troublemakers, but this was a reminder of the positive impact they can have. Throughout the event, we experienced respectful, friendly, and engaging interactions with everyone and this created such a welcoming atmosphere for everyone involved.

It was great to see so many young people coming together to enjoy an event respectfully in what was a positive experience for Police to be part of.

Thank you to the organisers, volunteers, partner agencies and most importantly, the young people who represented themselves and their communities so well. We look forward to supporting more events like this in future.

Two of our volunteers were invited to the official opening of Logos Hope's visit to Edinburgh. Former car ferry Logos Hope has been touring the world since 2009 and is the world's largest floating book fair. Her volunteer crew of more than 300 from over 60 countries share the gospel by engaging in educational support and humanitarian aid in the ports she calls at.

'Homeless Jesus' sculpture at the top of Leith Walk.

Edinburgh Street Pastors will be featured in a documentary later in the year about homelessness in the city. This sculpture will also be a part of it.
