Weddings made accessible! 💍

This year we’ve been delighted to support five weddings at Harvest Moon Weddings and John Muir Tipis with another two booked for October!

Our beach wheelchairs have helped family members and guests get through the woods and down onto the beach, making sure they can be part of those really special moments. 🌿

We’re so proud of this lovely partnership and absolutely delighted to help make these beautiful wedding venues accessible to more people.

Because everyone deserves to be part of the celebration.

☀️ An unbelievable summer at Seton Sands! 🏖️

We’ve had some fantastic usage of our beach wheelchairs at Haven Seton Sands Holiday Village this summer. During July, the chairs averaged around 8 hires every week, followed by around 6 hires a week throughout August.

That’s approximately 52 beach wheelchair hires across July and August alone! 🎉

A huge thank you to the team at Seton Sands for their continued support and for the brilliant partnership we have with them, helping more people staying at the holiday park to get out and enjoy the beach.

And remember, the beach wheelchairs at Seton Sands aren’t just for Haven guests, non-residents can use them too! Simply pop into reception and enquire about availability.

Such a positive summer season and fantastic to see the chairs being so well used!

.**Porty prom upgrade update**

We've received an email update about the porty prom project and I wanted to share some of the key points:

1. Porty Community Energy appointed as community partners. This is good news! These guys have Equal Footing Porty as one of their projects championing accessibility
2.The Porty Prom Advisory Team has been established bringing together the residents association and community organisations.
3. There are some old designs floating around social media of a proposed new build community space on the prom. This is NOT current rather from an architectural competition.
4. Importantly YOU can still comment on changes important to you on the link below.

Finally many of you kindly sent us comments on the necessity of a Changing Places Toilet on the prom. These have been forwarded to the team and we understand this is still a priority for the upgrade. Unfortunately we're not eligible to apply for the Government CPT funding.

It was great to work in partnership with Vogrie Pogrie Festival last weekend, helping to make the event more accessible.

We had six Beach Wheelchair hires over the weekend, which was fantastic, and we were delighted to be able to support people to enjoy everything the festival had to offer.

We also received this lovely bit of feedback from the event organisers, which is always wonderful to hear. 🥰

‘On Sunday one of the people who booked a chair was a terminally ill woman who had visiting Vogrie Pogrie on her bucket list. They were able to support her with a chair and many of the crew helped make her visit a beautiful thing’ ♥️♥️♥️

The Parks and open space development team will be at Straiton Place on the Prom, on Friday 11 September 2026 to chat about the development of the Portobello Prom Masterplan.

Popalong to meet the team, find out more about the project and ask us any questions you may have. They would also really like to hear your initial thoughts and ideas.
