Another fruitful Project 1917 meeting today – this time with our lovely members in Stirling, Perth and surrounding areas!

So many great ideas and excitement about the opportunity ahead. 2027 is our chance to celebrate 110 years of the SWI, recruit new members and show the whole country what today’s SWI is all about.

And, of course, no SWI gathering would be complete without the obligatory tea and cake! A big thank you to Margaret and Elizabeth from SCWP for being such lovely hosts and keeping us well fuelled.

Thank you to everyone who came along and shared their ideas – keep them coming! Next Project 1917 meetings are taking place:

Roxburghshire – Wilton Dean Hall Friday 18 September | 12pm
and Stewartry of Kirkcudbright – Castle Douglas Church Hall Saturday 19 September | 1pm

Come along, have your say and help us make 2027 a year to remember! 🎉

A glimpse into our past! This June 1954 edition of Home and Country magazine captures a moment of change, marking the handover from outgoing Chairman Mrs Kennedy to incoming Chairman Miss McKenzie, alongside reports on the Highland Show tearoom and a five-nation tour of overseas students visiting the Institutes.

Sit down with a cuppa and read the full June 1954 Home and Country magazine:https://www.theswi.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/SWI_1_6_1_1_31-1954_06-2.pdf

Sounds like a very interesting talk at Lonmay SWI exploring the junior arts and everything that goes on within them. The hand knitted dress that was brought along looks expertly put together and has only been worn once!

Lewis Platt came along to our meeting last night and gave a very interesting talk about the Junior Arts. He explained the dress in the photo was hand knitted during COVID but has only been worn on stage once. He also went on to tell us about all the various shows and pantos the Junior Arts have performed. We all thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

Raffle tickets are coming in thick and fast and the team is hard at work folding and preparing them for the draw at the Members' Gathering.

If you've yet to send your raffle tickets in, please fold them twice and we can add them directly to our bag of tickets when they arrive at the central office.

Please note if you're posting tickets back, they need to reach the central office by 3 September. If you are attending the Members' Gathering in Dundee you can hand them in on the day instead.

Despite some rainy weather, that didn't stop a brilliant day of bowling as part of the National Outdoor Bowling Competition.

Well done to everyone who took part, but there can only be one winner.

Congratulations to the ladies of Argyll Federation SWI, Roberta Bowen, Anne Stewart, and Janet Campbell who took home the top spot!

A special well done to runners up, Julie Murray, Fiona Whitby and Angela Murray of Stewartry Federation.
