✨MANIFESTO SPOTLIGHT✨
With the increase of transphobia on and off campus within Edinburgh, we must take a strong stance as allies to the trans community. As your VP Welfare, I will fully dedicate myself to defending and supporting trans students, and with the implementation of the Gender Empowerment Fund, I hope trans students will have the resources to affirm, explore and experiment with their gender presentation.

If you haven’t voted already, please vote here: https://www.eusa.ed.ac.uk/yourvoice/elections/submit/

PLAIN TEXT:
Transphobia at the University of Edinburgh has sadly been very prevalent over recent years, with many trans and non-binary students experiencing a frankly hateful and hostile atmosphere on campus. With an equally hostile right-wing media, it is crucial that we are all strong and consistent allies in the face of this hate.
I will establish a permanent Gender Empowerment Fund giving students resources to affirm, explore or experiment with their gender presentation. This fund is currently precarious and only secured on a year by year basis, however I want to make sure it is a permanent fund provided through the Student’s Association so that trans and non-binary students are continually supported and are able to be their authentic selves.
The Trans and Non-Binary Officer is still a relatively new role within the Students’ Association. I want to work closely with them to ensure that they are given the support and the space to create the systematic change necessary within this University for trans and non-binary students.

✨MANIFESTO SPOTLIGHT✨

This is quite a personal element to my manifesto; I thought it was really important to have manifesto promises which relate to problems I have experienced within our university, and lack of support for chronic illness is a huge one that I have personally faced. Chronic illnesses are valid and those who struggle with them deserve more support! Voting has opened, so vote Anna #1 for VP Welfare here: https://www.eusa.ed.ac.uk/yourvoice/elections/submit/

Plain text: This manifesto policy is quite personal to me; I struggle with chronic pain and recurring UTIs, and I often have to receive more support from the University as a result. However, I’ve found that there is not enough support for students with chronic illnesses, and that needs to change.
I will work with the Student Disability Service to ensure students with hidden and chronic illnesses are protected under their services. I will also seek to provide resources to students who think they may have a chronic illness, with information packs and guides about what help is available.
I will also host workshops on chronic illnesses which are often overlooked, such as endometriosis, fibromyalgia and Crohn’s disease. Hidden disabilities are valid, and students with chronic pain deserve support and kindness. For my full manifesto click the link in my bio or check out facebook.com/annaforvpwelfare
