Such a good day at at the launch of their community garden 🪴 Thanks to everyone who stopped by to chat about our campaign and shared stories about how valuable the North Edinburgh Path network is to them - from commuting to work to spending some quiet time in the outdoors.

The trees and greenery on the Roseburn Path are under threat. 🌳

Despite the Council saying they would like to retain trees, regulations and design codes mean all overhanging trees, all trees which drop their leaves, all hedges next to properties and trees on the slopes may need to be removed.

All quotes are from documentation released by Edinburgh City Council, despite not being included in designs and costings for the tram extension.

Edinburgh City Council are struggling to find a funding partner for the North-South tramline. https://www.edinburghlive.co.uk/news/edinburgh-news/edinburgh-tram-extension-funding-counter-32487252.amp

If you are a funder with deep pockets and meet the following criteria:
- disregard for wildlife
- disregard for green spaces
- disregard for communities
then pls get in touch with Edinburgh City Council directly 😉

Let us know in the comments what Scotland should spend £3bn on. Schools, hospitals, community care, mental health services, housing?

📣 We’ve been busy working our way through the consultation documents and have added guidance to our website on how you can fill out the consultation to help

It’s clear from the documents that the council really (like really) want to use the Roseburn Path for the tram route, so we need as many people as possible to fill out the consultation and make our voices heard! Every response matters 💚

You can find the guidance and our response to the consultation on our website: www.savetheroseburnpath.com

CONSULTATION LAUNCHES 🚀

From an initial read, it’s clear that the council are still wedded to putting the tram down the , despite so much opposition from the local community - people looking for a quiet place to spend time in nature, people who care about protecting wildlife and people who want to travel round the city on safe, off road paths. 🌳

What the council has published today advocates:
- taking space away from people, rather than cars off the road
- ignoring the voices of North Edinburgh residents who use this space as their local park
- turning a beautiful green space into a building site, with huge disruption to wildlife and people

We will be reviewing the materials carefully over the coming days and will share more information around how to respond to the consultation next week.

It’s so important that as many people respond to the consultation as possible. Tell your friends, tell your family, tell your colleagues.

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us in a celebration of Edinburgh’s green spaces on the 💚

Community events are always a great chance to connect with those who care about the north Edinburgh path network as much as we do, and we heard so many stories about the importance of easy access to green space on our health and wellbeing.

We can’t thank our wonderful speakers enough for sharing their perspectives on the importance of green space for biodiversity, thriving plants and wildlife and for safer cycling. 🌳

Anyone recognise this spot? 📌

It’s between Craigleith Junction and Maidencraig Crescent, and is the location of tomorrow’s community event!

We will be celebrating Edinburgh’s wonderful green spaces, and are so lucky to be joined by .gardener and many others to tell us all about what makes the so special. 🌳

There will be stories, songs, poems and a nature walk, as well as an opportunity to stop by, say hello and spend time in one of the Edinburgh’s most cherished green spaces.

All are welcome, see you there!
