West Edinburgh Sing and Sign offer fun interactive classes for babies aged 0-2 and their grown ups. Find out what your baby has to say!

Classes aim to encourage the development of communication through the use of signs, and to teach these through music!

Which instrument does your baby love? 🪇.

It's so fun seeing which instrument your baby chooses each week, but did you know giving your baby or toddler simple choices like this has lots of other benefits?

🎵It can help them feel like they have some control - by offering developmentally-appropriate choices, you can avoid power-struggles and nurture the first steps towards independence. This in turn can help reduce toddler tantrums.

🎵 It can help teach cause and effect - by having the freedom to choose one option over another they start to learn the consequences of their actions.

🎵It can boost their self esteem - by seeing that their opinions matter to you it can help build their confidence

It's been colours week with our Stage 2s and we've had lots of fun learning the signs for our colours and singing the 'Rainbow Song' 🌈 And I've been remembering the special week I first saw this little girl joining in with her signs and singing along 💕. What a joy!!

I’m not usually one for sharing holiday content, but as my Insta is mainly made up of young families this is relevant! We are just back from an extended family weekend in Coorie Away Kirkcudbright and the house is IDEAL for family and friends gatherings. Four double bedrooms, each large enough to fit a travel cot (one comes with a cot already) plus a kids room that fits three. Plus the interiors are SO dreamy!! And Kirkcudbright is ideal for families - we had a brilliant time at The Cocoabean Company doing a family chocolate workshop (also a brilliant soft play) as well as Dark Space Planetarium and there’s a great little beach for shells and sandcastles just 10 minutes drive out of town! Anyone planning a break with family or friends I really recommend taking a look! Now back to my usual baby signing content…

The Autumn term is underway! 🍂

Stage 2s kick off the term learning their food signs and I always share this story and photo of a little signer "Saying Cheese' for her nursery photo, so proud that she could say it with her signs! We'll be covering lots of favourite foods this week - I can't wait to hear what your toddler loves to eat! 🧀🤩

Looking for your Sing and Sign fix this week! I have 3 spaces available on Wednesday, 10am in St Cuthbert's Colinton for an Animal Madness session! Open to 5 months - 2 years, experienced baby signers or total beginners.

This class will be packed full of lots of favourite animals, from the jungle to the farm and more! Come along and learn the signs for the animals your babies and toddlers love 🐾💕

⭐ ARE YOU AN EXPECTANT OR NEW PARENT? SING AND SIGN BABES IS OPEN FOR BOOKING ⭐

Babies are born ready to communicate and in Sing and Sign Babes class we learn how to tap into their communication cues right from birth. This class is perfect for babies under 6 months and their grown ups!

👀 Captivate: Even the littlest babies can engage with the songs, music and games we enjoy together in class!

🧠 Communicate: Discover how your baby is already using and exploring tools for communication such as eye contact, facial expression, babble etc and learn some useful early baby signs to support their communication as they grow!

💕 Connect: Enjoy one-to-one time with your baby and learn new activities to take home and share together.

Babes classes are very relaxed and supportive, and classes are deliberately kept small to allow us all to get to know each other! But that does mean spaces can fill up quickly!

Communication is the very heart of every Sing and Sign class and it's my joy as a teacher to watch little ones 'find their voices', through sign and later through speech.

My other great joy is watching families grow and bond as their little one progresses from newborn, through baby stages and into toddlerhood. I get to see beautiful milestones and watch wonderful parents blossom over the terms 💕 And I've now been teaching long enough to get to see some of you coming through the stages a second time with subsequent babies!

You all know who you are, and thank you for choosing to have Sing and Sign in amongst your memories of these early years 💕
