It’s been another busy and exciting time for RHET teams across Scotland, with young people, families and communities getting involved in food, farming and countryside activities.
In Angus, pupils at Grange Primary harvested the potatoes they had grown as part of the Angus Potato Project. With 85 classes taking part this year, it’s been a fantastic growing season!
Ayrshire & Arran welcomed children from a summer club to a dairy farm, where they met calves and learned more about life on the farm.
In Fife, pupils from Collydean Primary visited Hilton of Beath Farm to explore their class topic of ‘Life on a Farm’, while also learning about renewable energy and putting their knowledge to the test with a quiz.
The Highland team spent the weekend meeting families at Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival, sharing more about RHET and the opportunities available through food and farming education.
In the Lothians, RHET volunteers celebrated a fantastic achievement at Dalkeith Show, winning the award for Best Non-Trade Stand while helping visitors celebrate Scottish farming.
Perth & Kinross invited families to the Perth Show to meet some very special guests from Arngask Farm and learn all about pigs.
And in the Scottish Borders, RHET volunteer Stephen Ball completed the incredible 100-mile Rat Race Castle to Castle run from Bamburgh Castle to Edinburgh Castle, finishing 33rd out of 630 entrants and raising more than £4,000 for RHET.
From growing potatoes and meeting farm animals to community events and incredible fundraising efforts, it’s been another great example of the many ways RHET connects people with food, farming and the countryside.
