It’s been another busy month for RHET teams across Scotland, bringing food, farming and the countryside to life for young people and communities.
In Argyll & Bute, the team celebrated the creativity behind the region’s bale art competitions, while also highlighting the importance of supporting Scotland’s young farming community.
Ayrshire & Arran got back out on the farm with schools, as pupils from Ochiltree Primary met dairy cattle and calves, explored a vegetable plot and discovered more about life on a working farm.
In Clyde, P5 pupils visited Sauchenhall Farm to learn about sheep and pigs, meet the animals and see a sheepdog at work.
Dumbarton, Lomond & Renfrewshire kicked off the new academic year with a farm visit, while also delivering resources to schools to support learning about food and harvest.
Dumfries & Galloway welcomed 200 pupils to its first Food & Farming Day of the year, with activities covering milk, machinery and animal care, supported by an incredible team of volunteers.
Fife received a fantastic £4,300 donation from the Fife Vintage Agricultural Machinery Club, following a year of support as their charity of the year.
In Forth Valley, 262 pupils from seven schools enjoyed a day of outdoor learning at Solsgirth, made possible by 36 dedicated volunteers.
Highland welcomed Halkirk Primary to Stemster Farm, where pupils asked questions, explored farming life and discovered more about where their food comes from.
The Lothians team hosted a wonderful afternoon tea at East Saltouns, bringing supporters together for an enjoyable afternoon.
Perth & Kinross welcomed nearly 300 children to its Food & Farming Day, with pupils exploring the countryside and learning more about the journey of their food.
And in the Scottish Borders, P2/3 pupils from Coldstream Primary enjoyed a hands-on visit to Whitmuirhaugh Farm, meeting animals, climbing into tractors and learning about farming, seasons and local food.
From farm visits and food and farming days to fundraising and community events, RHET continues to connect young people across Scotland with the people and places behind their food.
