Most people start volunteering with an idea of what the role will involve. But often, it’s the things they didn’t expect that leave the biggest impact.

For some of our volunteers, it was realising the level of preparation and commitment needed to do the role well. For others, it was stepping outside their comfort zone and discovering what they were capable of achieving.

Many were surprised by the incredible range of experiences shared by children and families, and the insight that comes from listening to perspectives different from their own.

If you’re looking for an opportunity that will challenge you, inspire you and help you grow, volunteering as a Panel Member could be for you.

The impact of being a Panel Member doesn’t stop when a hearing ends.

From greater confidence and stronger communication skills to new perspectives, and a deeper understanding of others, many Panel Members find the experience shapes other areas of their lives too.

Our Panel Members share what they’ve gained from their time on the Panel - and how it continues to influence their work, relationships and communities long after they leave the hearing room.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to grow and help create positive change, becoming a Panel Member could be the perfect next step.
