The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, at the University of Edinburgh, is hosting a two-day conference this September.

Empathy and compassion in One Health conference: Perspectives across disciplines, species and ecosystems
Dovecot Studios, 28-29 September 2026

This multidisciplinary conference will bring together leading researchers, educators, and innovators in human and animal healthcare and allied disciplines to share research and establish new collaborations. It's aimed at academics, practitioners and educators who are interested in empathy and compassion in human, animal, and planetary health.

This conference is the inaugural event of the Edinburgh Empathy Place, an initiative of the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, and is part of the Edinburgh Medical School’s 300th year anniversary celebrations.

Applications for a Queen’s Nurse Leadership 1 course are open!

Supported by The Burdett Trust for Nursing, this in-person programme supports community nurses and midwives working in community and primary care settings in Scotland to step into leadership with confidence, purpose and clarity.

Whether you’re already leading or just beginning to explore your leadership role, the course offers a chance to pause, reflect and grow alongside peers who understand the realities of community nursing.

📍 Monday 2, Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 November 2026, Inverness

What participants can expect:
• Values-based leadership in the context of public health, health equity, inclusion, and community nursing.
