📣We're SO excited to share our programme with you today!

📚10 events jam-packed with awesome authors, incredible illustrators, wonderful writers and sensational storytellers, ready to inspire families in Craigmillar, Niddrie, Bingham and Magdalene over the summer holidays.

All events are free and include a book, drink and snack. Please note there are 3 events for 8-12 year olds that must be booked ahead. All take place in Craigmillar Library except our final event at the Thistle Foundation.

We can't wait to see you there!

We've had a lovely few weeks discovering stories old and new at our group.

Rita shared some fantastic fairy tales with a twist, including Cinderella and Rapunzel, then we had a week of traditional tales from around the world. We made paper dolls, mad hair hats and puppet theatres. So proud of everyone who shared their puppet shows too!

This Friday is the final session of the term, and we'll be celebrating our 5th birthday with games, cake and crafts! Families are very welcome to join us, but please let Katie know if you're coming along.

Thank you to Castleview Primary School for inviting Katie along to their Summer Fair on Friday.

It was such a fun and joyful event. The sun came out and it was great to meet so many children and families. We gifted over 100 World Book Day books, and hope everyone enjoyed reading them over the weekend!

🥳Now You Are 4 Party!🥳
Saturday 23 May 11am-12noon Craigmillar Library

Now You Are 4 is a celebration event for all families from the Greater Craigmillar area with a child who is 4 or turning 4. We'd be delighted if you could join us for storytelling, cake and a gift bag with books for every child.

There's no need to book, please just come along. You'll also find out about all the lovely opportunities in the community for families and children that age.

We're really looking to welcoming you to this special joint event with Craigmillar Stories for Sharing and our wonderful colleagues at Craigmillar Books for Babies.

We've been having a lot of fun exploring fairy tales at our group this term.

In the last couple of weeks we've shared different versions of Jack and the Beanstalk and The Three Little Pigs, planted our own 'magic' beans 🌱(runner, green and broad beans), listened to some music (Peter and the Wolf) AND Rita really surprised us by coming in DRESSED as a (very friendly!) wolf!! 😱😁

📣We have space for two more families with children aged 4-12 to join our Feel Good Friday group.

We meet every Friday afternoon during term time in a room Craigmillar Library. Sessions are very relaxed, with a different theme each term. We share picture books, play games, have quizzes and do crafts (painting, drawing, cutting, sticking, making 😊) plus have a wee drink and a snack.

It's all about having quality time together, building confidence, being creative and enjoying stories with no pressure on formal literacy skills. Some families come every week, and some just come a few times a term. We asked them how they would describe the group to friends and some of the answers are below ⬇️⬇️⬇️.

Thank you to all the children and families that came along to our two holiday activities in Craigmillar Library. We loved making collages and mini books with you!

We will have a full programme of activities in and around Craigmillar during the summer holidays too, at least 10 events for 4-12 year olds, with storytellers, authors, illustrators, music, crafts, book-gifting and snacks 😁. Keep an eye on this page in early June for more information.

📖Make a Mini Book - TODAY 13/4 1.30-3pm📖

Please join Katie in Craigmillar Library this afternoon for a fun craft session. For 4-12 year olds and their grown-ups.

No need to book, just come along for 5 minutes or the whole session. Make a mini book (or two or three!) then write and illustrate your own mini stories.

PLUS we will have a small selection of gift books too. You don't need to attend the session to choose one. See you there!
