Pregnancy and Parents Centre

Pregnancy and Parents Centre A friendly, inclusive non profit org supporting expectant parents and families in Edinburgh. We hope that you will enjoy what we have to offer at the Centre.

From pregnancy and baby yoga, music classes, birth education and child first aid. Welcoming everyone, whatever your background, culture, race and family type. The Pregnancy and Parents Centre has grown and developed over 30 years in response to what women have told us that they and their families need during pregnancy, childbirth and beyond. Identity:

The Pregnancy and Parents Centre offers pract

ical and emotional support to enable all women and their families to experience pregnancy, birth and parenthood with confidence and dignity. We provide antenatal and postnatal classes, one to one and group support, sharing experiences, information, advocacy and child-centred activities in a warm and welcoming environment. Values:

Everyone is welcome, whatever your circumstances, background, sexual orientation, family makeup or beliefs. Many of our services are free and our sessions are run on a donation basis or a sliding scale of fees so we never turn anyone away due to financial constraint. We also strive to make sure our classes are accessible to parents and parents-to-be with particular needs. We believe that people make the best choices for themselves and their families when they have balanced and comprehensive information, non-judgemental support and confidence in themselves. We honour individuals and their different circumstances and choices around birth, and respect every unique experience. We recognise the benefits of normal birth and of breastfeeding, where possible and where these are what parents choose. We acknowledge that parents have different needs and concerns before and after birth, so we aim to offer continuing support, friendship and activities throughout the process of becoming parents and raising children. All our facilitators are trained and many have worked with pregnant women, their partners and parents with babies and/or small children for many years. We aim to continue to develop, and therefore welcome any feedback and suggestions you might like to give to any of our facilitators, directors or co-coordinator.

Across Scotland, there are over 150 breastfeeding support groups a week including a weekly drop in group at the Pregnancy and Parents centre and a preparation for breastfeeding workshop if you haven 't had your baby yet.

Where ever you get your support, you can be sure of a warm welcome, and if you have any questions, trained supporters are on hand with a listening ear and our lovely Holly here at the PPC is fantastic.

You can find all the groups available across Scotland on the interactive map below

A helpful wee note about what we can (and can't) accept at our July sale.
Also: info about timing of drop off of donations.
Please can we ask that any equipment is given a wee clean up? Sometimes we run out of time for that once we are set up. Thanks for all your help with that.

Did you know that in Scotland breastfeeding and bottle feeding are both protected by The Breastfeeding etc. (Scotland) Act 2005.

If a person deliberately prevents or stops someone from feeding a child under the
age of two in a public place in Scotland they are committing a criminal offence. If
a mother is asked to move to another part of the premises, or leave the premises
completely this is also an offence. This applies to places that the child has the
legal right to be in.

This means that any person should be able to feed a child when required and in
the most appropriate place for them, without the fear of interruption or criticism
