We're proud to have supported AzuKo, whose SEAD-Fund grant helped a photographer to capture powerful stories of life along Bangladesh's Teesta River - including the incredible women helping their communities stay safe through flooding and erosion.

Front Garden Project brings a breath of fresh air

A grant from SEAD has enabled Community House Alloa to transform a bare concrete space into a colourful and accessible garden. Here's their report:
The first task was to ‘prepare the ground’ for the project, which meant weeding, clearing away rubbish and buying small planters.
The children who use the centre had great fun choosing flowers, arranging the planters, adding other decorative items, and generally getting their hands dirty. They learned about decision-making, design ideas, and working in teams to transform the space, and will continue to be involved in keeping the garden well-maintained.
Upcycling the old pallets was time-consuming but the results were well worth the effort bringing even more colour to the space, and creating extra places for plants. The seating area was also upgraded, and is now getting a lot more use.
The completion of the Front Garden project has brought lots of smiles, laughter, and joy to the whole community.
