This week russia continued to brutally target civilians in Ukraine. Yesterday, russians hit two public buses in Kramatorsk, a day before an apartment block in Pryluky and multiple schools and homes across in Kyiv. Since Monday, russia has killed 85 civilians and injured 346 others. Alongside the casualties, there are mass strikes on electrical infrastructure - another tool of terror used by russia.

In order for the terror to stop, we must urge the UK government to step up in sending Ukraine air-defence missiles. The more russian drones are hit in the air, the less of a threat Russia will be.

We urge the public in Scotland to join us tomorrow and take action.

🛡️ The 1st of October is Ukrainian Defenders Day - an opportunity to thank those who are keeping Ukrainian borders sovereign and independent.

We offer our sincere gratitude to those serving to protect Ukraine in its fight against evil, and eternal memory to those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Whilst Ukrainians continue to defend themselves, we must continue to call for direct actions to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces. With over 200 active combat engagements per day in Ukraine, demand for supplies is constant. Without gaining an advantage in the battle russians are continuing their campaign to target civilians, and supplying and arming the Ukrainian army is crucial to prevent further mass atrocities.

📢 We urge the public in Scotland to raise awareness and to take action - join us tomorrow to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces and call for increased military aid to Ukraine.

🚨 The town of Oleshky is slowly dying under russian occupation

For months, the 2,000 inhabitants of Oleshky have been left with no humanitarian supplies, with su***de drones precisely targeting civilians all over the Kherson region in the south of Ukraine. This situation has now reached a critical stage and we urge you to take action.

🎯 Purpose: To raise awareness about the ongoing humanitarian destruction in Oleshky caused by russian occupation

The public action calls for urgent action to protect civilians and uphold international humanitarian law. We call on the UK Government to:

* Press for safe and effective humanitarian corridors to Oleshky and other affected communities.
* Support immediate humanitarian relief and assistance for victims of attacks.
* Pursue appropriate sanctions against individuals and supply chains responsible for attacks targeting civilians, where supported by evidence and due process.
* Use available diplomatic channels to press for civilian protection and humanitarian access.
* Take steps to deter the use of similar tactics against civilians in Kherson, Ukraine, and elsewhere.

This systematic targeting of civilians with drones is a grave humanitarian concern and a dangerous precedent. Join us to raise awareness, stand in solidarity with affected communities, and call for urgent measures to protect civilian life.

This week, the Ukrainian Victory Campaign turned three 🎂

Three years ago, Scottish and Ukrainian volunteers and organisations came together to address the information gap relating to the ongoing mistreatment of Ukrainian POWs.

📢 Since then, UVC has held over 159 Public Actions to engage with the public in Scotland, advocating for international pressure to release the captive Ukrainians. UVC has taken part in multiple international campaigns with like-minded organisations worldwide to bring Ukrainian issues to Scotland's attention. We organised many talks that provided a platform for Ukrainian voices, along with screenings and art exhibitions.

🎯 Our actions to support Ukraine on the ground have targeted the most frontline regions. Together we turned words into action, and raised over £25,000 to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces. With these funds, we sent 21 aid packages to different units across the frontline and further supported 17 grassroots crowdfunders for our Defenders. We also supplied hundreds of kilos of recycled vapes to be made into power banks and helped coordinate several humanitarian projects. These actions are the result of many communities coming together, working toward a shared goal: restoring peace in Ukraine. We urge you to join us tomorrow for the next Public Action:

We are grateful to the Ukrainian Defenders who, despite all the challenges, continue to work professionally on their tasks - without their daily work, there would be no Ukraine or peace in Scotland.

FREE UKRAINIAN POWs - Bring them home alive 🏡 🇺🇦

We continue to call for the release of Ukrainian POWs from russian captivity. Shocking news reached the world today as russia once again has executed unarmed Ukrainians. In Dobropillya, on 2 September russian forces executed two service members of Ukraine’s National Guard.

Ukraine’s human rights ombudsman has reported that they are investigating over 300 cases of ex*****ons of Ukrainian POWs, yet other sources claim that the number of ex*****ons is several times higher. The ex*****on of unarmed personnel is a war crime, yet russia continues to conduct war crimes on an unprecedented industrial level in Ukraine.

We urge the public to raise awareness and to take action. Tomorrow we are conducting a public action to bring forward the heavy topic of the russian atrocities - the world must know the face of terrorism.

Peace Requires Strength: Arm Ukraine now

The war is continuing. Every day, the Ukrainian Armed Forces report more than 100 combat engagements with the enemy. Ukraine stands as long as its army continues to withstand the russian invaders. russian occupation means genocide of Ukrainians.

We must continue to rally in support of our armed forces who continue to defend Europe from our common enemy. Every Saturday at 14:00 in Edinburgh, we gather to continue raising public awareness and support for those who defend us. Please join us tomorrow - together our voices are louder.

🎯 Purpose: To continue to raise public awareness about the ongoing war in Ukraine, show our solidarity with Ukrainian Defenders, and to call the UK and Europe to arm Ukraine.

During this week, our volunteers have continued to provide aid to the most important people in Ukraine, as over this summer, by combining our voluntary efforts in Edinburgh, we have funded 4 requests from four different units in Ukraine, providing the Ukrainian army with tools for communication and accurate work. The tools have gone to assist the Defenders on the front in the Donetsk, Sumy, Kherson, and Kharkiv regions. Full and separate reports are in the process.

Since we completed our last request, we have had several more units contact us with requests for help. We are continuing to fundraise to provide direct aid to the most important parts of the front. We need your help - join us tomorrow and spread the word.

Defend the Sky. Save Lives. Ukraine needs air defence to stop the russian terror.

Over this summer russia has expanded its terror campaign against Ukrainian civilians, with the main goal of hitting civilian warehouses and electrical infrastructure. The russian attacks targeting postal offices and food warehouses have destroyed around 90% of retailers' food logistics.

As the Edinburgh International Book Festival continues, russia continues to destroy books in Ukraine, with over 11 million books destroyed, equating to roughly a third of all published books in Ukraine. Book publishers report their unsold stock destroyed, with numerous warehouses attacked.

Such attacks are directly targeting civilians, as russia uses hybrid warfare to exterminate Ukrainians. We urge the public to join us in support to call for anti-air defences - russian terror must end.
