South African Children's Charitable Trust The South African Children’s Charitable Trust believes that every child, regardless of background has the right to reach their potential and dream big.

The South African Children’s Charitable Trust was founded by Jon and Victoria Erasmus. Jon was born and raised in Durban and the family travel to SA every year to visit relatives and friends. Founding The South African Children’s Charitable Trust has seen a dream realised as the opportunity to make a difference and really help both orphaned and vulnerable children and young people becomes a realit

y. One of our partner organisations iKhethelo is located in Kwa Zulu Natal. After several years of child sponsoring which included visiting and getting to know the iKhethelo, it was clear that every penny raised goes directly to the children and we were keen to do more to help. iKhethelo and its sister organisation Lily of the Valley are both outstanding examples of organisations that are really making a difference to these children by helping them to have the opportunity to reach their potential and dream big. However, with lack of funding, poverty, HIV/Aids and access to basic resources, makes it at times increasingly difficult for these organisation to function. The South African Children’s Charitable Trust will also continue to help support the everyday living conditions that the children have. For example, broken toilet seats, bedding, crockery, rooms painted, basic maintenance, clean water and working showers or baths. These basic needs can be left unfixed due to budget prioritising and aren’t always seen as attractive fundraising projects. However as a charity a main goal for us is to ensure that the living conditions for every child is perfect and that these are taken care of or fixed. Our role in the UK is to fundraise for specific projects and for the everyday living conditions for the children. We also visit the organisations that we help support in South Africa at least once a year and work closely with on an ongoing regular basis. Additionally, The South African Children’s Charitable Trust will help raise awareness in the UK of these incredible organisations. These organisations that are making such a huge difference to those they help, one child at a time, and offer the confidence to those in the UK that the every penny raised will be going directly to the children it was meant to help.

🎄✨ A Message of Hope This Christmas ✨🎄

As Christmas lights up our homes and hearts, let's remind ourselves of the incredible power of kindness, compassion and community.

The season is not just about gifts under the tree, but about the love we place into the lives of others. Together, we have shown our children that their dreams matter, that they are valued and that their future is filled with possibilities. ❄️

This year, our Annual Christmas Wish Appeal achieved an extraordinary response thanks to your generosity, kindness and belief in our children. The incredible amount raised means so much more than numbers on a page and will help provide the Xmas wish activities over the holidays.

To every supporter, volunteer, donor and friend: thank you for being the reason hope shines brighter this Christmas. You are changing lives, one child, one act of love at a time.

May your Christmas be filled with peace, joy and the deep knowing that kindness truly changes the world. 🌟

With much love and peace
The South African Children's Charitable Trust 🌍💫

Our wonderful beneficiary home, IKhethelo Children's Villagei, shared this message about volunteering.

Every visit we make we see the powerful impact that volunteering has.

💛 For the children:
Volunteers help create spaces where confidence grows, curiosity is encouraged and learning becomes exciting. Whether it is homework support or reading circles, these moments build essential academic and life skills for their future success.

💛 For the volunteers:
The work you do is deeply meaningful, but it is also powerful for your own growth. Volunteering at iKhethelo offers hands-on, real-world skills such as:
• teamwork and leadership
• communication and mentorship
• problem-solving in dynamic environments
• organising, admin and donation management
• programme planning and facilitation
• community engagement and empathy

These are valuable personal development and TVET-aligned skills that strengthen your CV, your confidence and your purpose.

💛 Most importantly:
Volunteers walk away changed and more grounded, more connected and more passionate about the impact they can make. Most importantly, our incredible children benefit from every moment of attention, guidance and love poured into them.

To everyone who gives their time to iKhethelo and our other children’s homes: thank you for investing not only in these bright young lives, but also in the future of South Africa through skills development and empowerment.🇿🇦⭐️

If you would like to volunteer, learn, grow, and be part of something truly life-changing, please reach out. It really is a life changing experience for everyone involved.

Thank you

🎄 Our Christmas Wish Appeal is Live! 🎄

Can you help? This holiday season, we are helping the children and young people at IKhethelo Children's Village in KwaZulu-Natal create beautiful memories from beach days, water park adventures, baking, crafts and movie nights.🎄

Every visit reminds me of the power of creating fun memories, and it is these moments that help children grow with balance, confidence and happiness. For young people growing up in orphanages and children’s villages, memories like these shape who they become. They teach them what it means to feel valued, loved and free. 🌟

That is why I am so proud to launch our Annual Christmas Wish Appeal through our charity. Each year, we help make this six-week holiday season at iKhethelo truly special. We provide all the Xmas Wish activities – beach trips, water parks, cinema, arts and craft, picnics out etc. 🎄

These vital activities allow these amazing children to enjoy the same excitement and magic that children should experience at Christmas.🌟

I completely understand that times are tough. The economy is challenging, and so many people already give generously to causes close to their hearts. But if you are able to spare even a little, please know that every penny and 100% of all donations and Gift Aid, goes directly to this appeal and to the children who will benefit from it. Nothing is taken out. Every contribution makes a real, visible difference.🎄

🎁 For every £10 donation, you will receive one entry into our December Charity Raffle (1 ticket = £10) - with some fantastic prizes to be announced soon! 🎁

The children and young people at iKhethelo, along with the dedicated team who care for them, are truly extraordinary. Their warmth, gratitude and determination to thrive inspire me every single day. 🌟

Thank you
🎄Donate. Share. Be part of their Christmas Wish. 🎄

Last week we returned from South Africa after a fantastic visit with IKhethelo Children's Village which supports both vulnerable and orphaned children and young people in the KwaZulu-Natal region. These are moments that take me far beyond business and back to where my heart truly finds purpose.

It was an absolute privilege to once again visit iKhethelo Children's Village just outside Durban in South Africa - a place that continues to remind me what love, hope and community really mean.

Seeing Graeme Mark Wright and Tami Wright again was such a joy. Their unwavering commitment to creating a home filled with care and belonging for every child is nothing short of inspirational.

Walking through the village with them, I was struck once more by the laughter, the light and the resilience of the children who call this place home.

I am beyond delighted about the new plans for the village move, with construction beginning in May next year. The vision they shared of a purpose-built, sustainable community where every child can grow, thrive and dream fills me with deep emotion and renewed purpose. It is a bold and beautiful next chapter and I am so proud that our charity can play a small part in supporting it.

In a world that so often feels crazy, uncertain and fast-moving, moments like these ground me. When we connect to purpose and see the impact of kindness and compassion, it brings deeper meaning to everything we strive for.

To everyone who has donated through the South African Children’s Charitable Trust, please know that your generosity is making a real, lasting difference. Every contribution, every prayer, every act of kindness helps give these children the love, care and opportunities they deserve.

Absolutely delighted to see the opportunity and success from this amazing individual. Well Done Thando!

As we rush into October, our thoughts turn to Xmas - only 9 weeks away!

Help us provide all the Xmas wishes for our amazing children and young people we support. Supporting our Xmas Wish Appeal is a chance to bring joy and create lasting memories for our children and young people. Your donation can transform their festive season into a magical and unforgettable time, fostering a sense of belonging and warmth – something we believe every child and young person should experience.

Every penny raise and 100% of all gift aid will go directly to this campaign (as with all our events) - something as a small charity we are very proud to be able to state.

Together, we can make this Christmas a time of hope and beautiful memories for those who need it most – at a time when the world needs more kindness.
