Workdays in August: Three squads out this week:
1) Flotterstone: cutting back hedge and other vegetation, rake and sweep.
2) Path strimming on section Pentland Way heading out (North) of Carlops, and path strimming at Patieshill.
3) W Linton arboretum & meadow: strimming the arboretum path and meadow perimeters; removing invasive aspen saplings.

Workdays in August:
1) Further dry stone wall repairs at 3 vandalised sections by Harlaw Reservoir, further work remains. We required to take down a 3m section which was considered dangerous due to the sloping angle and the fact it had the top stones mortared and the mortar had deteriorated, so this will require a rebuild. Also we carried out the annual compost riddling in the Harlaw Garden.
2) Extending the boardwalk at Patieshill.

Scott Arthur, MP for Edinburgh South-West, having heard about the good work being done by FoP, asked to come and see for himself. Board members Bob Cook, Ian Walford and Sam Lockhart together with workday co-ordinator Andrew Marsden met Scott at Swanston on 5th August. He was impressed to hear about the range of activities we are involved in and our work with partners to improve the Pentland path network and also admired the Swanston arboreta and the adjoining stell and perches installed by FoP. Scott is keen to find time to join a workparty in future and will do what he can to support efforts to restore the upland paths

More litter picking in August: A squad of five out at Flotterstone on Thursday. Ten bags of litter collected, including 17 laughing gas bottles.

Litter picking in August: A squad up at Harlaw this week. Amongst the haul:
A BBQ fire pit
Four laughing gas bottles.
14+ dog poo bags along the crop field.
Five bags of rubbish collected

Recent boardwalk improvements between Little Vantage and Gala Ford were part-funded by donations in memory of Michael Good, co-founder of the Pentland Puffers walking group. To celebrate this, the Puffers held a memorial walk on Thursday – in glorious weather – from Little Vantage through to West Linton (with some side excursions).

Litter Picking in July: A squad of ten at Hillend today. 13 bags of rubbish was collected, including the "contents" of a grit bin, even though there was a rubbish bin across the car park.

Workdays in July: Belated shots from a small joint team cutting and clearing overgrown vegetation from part of the footpath around Harlaw.

Workdays in July: Three squads out on Wed.
1: Drain clearance in Phantom's Cleugh
2: Clearing vegetation from the path through Lowries Den
3: Harvesting Yellow Rattle seed from some of our meadow sites at West Linton
