CACH Scotland

CACH Scotland CACH Scotland is based in Edinburgh and we are the Scottish representatives for International Campaign Against Canned Hunting (CACH). !

Scotland Roars is the Scottish rep for International Campaign Against Canned Hunting (CACH). It started as a project by Malena Persson, an Edinburgh based photographer. It was created as part of the Global March For Lions which was held worldwide on March 15th 2014. This was an initiative to support the work of Chris Mercer and Bev Pervan's Campaign Against Canned Hunting - http://www.cannedlion.o

After Scotland Roars kept raising awareness about canned hunting, mostly online. However in June 2014 we were asked to have a stall at the Hopetoun Horse Trials. We are also currently planning the next global march together with Scotland For Elephants. Canned hunting is where the target animal is unfairly prevented from escaping the hunter, either by physical constraints (fencing) or by mental constraints (tame, habituated to humans.) There are fewer than 4000 lions left in the ’wild’ in South Africa, but more than 8,000 in captivity, being bred for the bullet or the arrow. Lion farming is a real threat to wild lion prides, for many reasons. The on-going capture of wild lions to introduce fresh blood into captive breeding, and the growth of the lion bone trade to Asia will impact severely on wild lions from poaching. This toxic and cruel industry needs to be closed down. Scotland Roars is fundraising to support CACH:
