It's for our communities, run by our community volunteers and is a safe warm Friendly place for everyone touched not only by Dementia but isolation loneliness or companionship. Stay for as long or as short a time as you wish

PALM Dementia Cafe St Joseph’s Hall Balerno Parish Church

The PALM cafe is a monthly cafe held on the last Tuesday of the month from 3.00-4.15pm in the St Joseph’s Centre, Balerno. The cafe is a social group café for people with dementia and their carers serving the communities of Balerno, Juniper Green and Currie.

The PALM café aims to:

Provide a space for people with dementia and their carers to meet others for support and social contact.

Use activities such as music, movement, reminiscence and craft to enhance the wellbeing of the person with dementia.

Provide an opportunity for informal support and information for carers.

26th March - Easter celebrations
30th April - How does you garden grow?
28th May - Day trips and Sunday school outings.
25th June - Summer Outing

Further to previous emails with regards to the re-surfacing of the Water of Leith Walkway please find an update below.

After a period of local consultation with key stakeholders the City of Edinburgh Council have decided to use Flexipave as an alternative to Ultitrec. Flexipave has been used on numerous routes similar to the Water of Leith Walkway, including sections of the Trans Pennine Trail in England.

The contractor is due to be on-site on Monday the 13th February to re-start the groundworks for the sections from where they finished off when the works were suspended to Balerno.

Also, we aim to be starting on site Monday the 6th March with the Flexipave surfacing at the Lanark Road end.
