We once again thank Inverclyde AC for their support during Scottish Running Week, raising £1,000 once again for our charity. Our chair Graeme Jack visited the Ravenscraig Stadium in Greenock to thank their club for their ongoing commitment to Athletics Trust Scotland💙🦓

Inverclyde AC President Janice Hendrie said: "Inverclyde AC is delighted to present this donation to Athletics Trust Scotland from the proceeds of the recent Loch Thom Trail Race. We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the event's success, including our runners, volunteers, officials and supporters.

"As a club, we firmly believe in the spirit of athletes helping athletes, and we are pleased that the funds raised through the race will help Athletics Trust Scotland continue its important work supporting the athletics community across Scotland."

West XC League

Dates and venues for three meetings this coming winter…
Provisional at the moment pending permits etc.

October 31: Foxbar, Paisley (Kilbarchan AAC)

November 21: Alexandra Park, Glasgow (Westerlands CCC)

January 9: Calderglen Park, East Kilbride (Calderglen Harriers)

We are pleased to now be in a position to publish dates for the 2026/27 season of the West Scotland XC League. Dates and venues/host clubs are currently provisional pending permits etc: #1 Saturday 31st October 2026 – Brediland Park, Foxbar, Paisley – Host club: Kilbarchan AAC #2 21st November.....

Cross Country Endurance Sessions are running across different venues in Scotland over the winter, which will help runners prepare for the Lindsays Cross Country season ❄️🏃‍♀️

Dyslexia Awareness Week 2026💙🏃🏼

Meet Declan, a middle-distance athlete with Law & District AAC. Declan is dyslexic, and for him that can mean processing the sound of the starting gun takes longer. During cross country this wasn’t obvious as he could see the other runners move and follow. But on the track, particularly in an 800m race, starting from a diagonal line meant he could sometimes lose valuable time before he even had a chance to race ✨

His coaches listened. They spoke with Declan, learned more about how dyslexia impacts him and worked with the club to find a solution. Now, with support at the start, either a tap on the shoulder or a visual cue such as a white flag, Declan has the opportunity to react to the start alongside his fellow athletes 🙌

The impact goes far beyond the start line. His confidence has grown enormously, and he has found a real sense of belonging within his team 🫶🏻

Dyslexia is about much more than reading and writing. It can impact how someone processes sounds, instructions, information and working memory, and everyone experiences it differently. Declan’s story is a brilliant reminder of what can happen when we work together to listen, learn and adapt 🤝

Sad passing of Central AC legend John McDonald

We’re deeply sorry to relay the news that John McDonald passed away last week after a short period in hospital.
John was an athlete, coach, administrator and employee of the national governing body for 14 years.
He was well-known across our community and served his beloved Central AC as President in two spells.
John was awarded Honorary Life Membership by scottishathletics in 2015.
Sending our sympathies to all family and friends across the sport and (in particular) our own Jamie McDonald, National Club Manager.
