Tune in to Festival of Politics TV this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 7pm!

Our brilliant team of young video journalists have been hard at work over the summer, producing short films and interviewing some very interesting people at the Edinburgh Book Festival!

We'll be broadcasting live from the Scottish Parliament building at the Festival of Politics from Wednesday this week.

With only one day to go until submissions close for the 2026 Scottish Youth Film Festival, we thought this would be a great time to let you know where this year’s festival will be held! The festival moves location each year, so that we can reach as many young people across Scotland as possible, regardless of where you’re located.

We can’t wait to see you on the 2nd and 3rd October in… Ayrshire! 🎉

🎥 Friday 2nd October, Prestwick Academy, 6:00pm – 9:00pm:

An exclusive evening event for 19-26 year olds. Film screening, awards, casual networking and Q&A session with a special industry guest.

🎥 Saturday 3rd October, Prestwick Academy, 10:00am – 4:30pm:

The main festival day, for ages 12-26. There’ll be something for everyone, whether you’re exploring the world of film for the first time, or taking steps into the industry. There will be practical workshops, talks, panels, 1-1 sessions with industry pros, film screenings and awards.

Both events are FREE to attend. Further programme and ticket details coming soon. We have some fabulous local partners, who we are very excited to be working with.

Films of Scotland is back and the brilliant Ashley Jensen has some more info for you!

After a successful run in 2024-25, we're once again asking young Scots aged 26 and under to share their films about today's Scotland: The culture, the landscape, the people, the food... whatever inspires you.

It's completely free to enter and the best films will be shortlisted and shown at a special event in 2027 at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh, where prizes will be awarded.

Winning films will be placed in the National Library of Scotland Moving Image Archive, as part of Scotland’s story for future generations.

Our competition is inspired by the original Films of Scotland, which ran from 1938 until 1982.

Say hello to the 2026 Sean Connery Youth Talent Lab team!

They're spending this week in the Highlands for an intensive filmmaking residential, with masterclasses and Q&As with industry professionals, where they'll be getting hands-on experience in script writing, camera work, lighting, editing, acting, production, on-set skills... and more!

We kicked things off with a fantastic visit from main Sean Connery Talent Lab participant Declan Dineen (Writer/Director) last night. We screened his film "St.Anthony" and had a really insightful and inspiring conversation about everything from the production process to general filmmaking and career advice.

By the end of the project, the team will have produced two short films. We can't wait to see how the week unfolds.
