We’re delighted to welcome three new Patrons to the Scottish Youth Film Foundation!

We’re proud to announce that filmmaker Sarah Purser, internationally acclaimed producer Tommy Gormley, and award-winning writer-director Raisah Ahmed have joined SYFF as Patrons.

Each brings an exceptional breadth of experience from across the screen industries, and, importantly, a shared passion for supporting young people across Scotland to discover their voice, build creative skills, and access pathways into film, journalism and digital storytelling.

They join an inspiring group of existing Patrons including Iain Smith, Jason Connery, Jack Lowden, Hiftu Quasem, Andrew Rothney, Sara Vickers, Douglas Mackinnon and Kat Morgan.

Their support strengthens our mission: to ensure that every young person in Scotland – regardless of background, postcode or experience – has the opportunity to tell their story and see a future in the screen industries.

As Raisah Ahmed puts it: “Storytelling helps us create the type of world we want to live in.”

Since 2014, SYFF has been working to improve life outcomes for young people through film – providing the tools, confidence and opportunities to turn creative ambition into real careers. This is a fantastic next step for us.

A huge welcome to Sarah, Tommy and Raisah – we’re excited for what’s ahead.

Do you know your misinformation from your disinformation?! Are you confident in telling political fact from fiction on social media?
We’re here to help. As you make up your mind on how to vote in the Scottish Parliamentary elections this webinar we will give you the facts about fact checking, explain how some of the best deception works and share tips on how to spot it and call it out.

Welcome to the first in a series of webinars from Future Proof – our project not only to bring you up to speed with the main issues of the election campaign but to hear from experts on the explosion of ‘fake news’ polluting our politics and what we can do about it.

In the first of series of Q&A sessions during the campaign we’ll be joined by Nasim Asl, Senior Political Journalist at the leading UK fact-checking organisation, Full Fact who’ve been leading the fight against misinformation in traditional media and the flood of AI fueled disinformation on social media.

They’re joining us to answer your questions so whether you're right into politics or just voting for the first time, join us for a friendly chat!

The webinar will be hosted by our Future Proof reporters – find out more about them here:
