Saving rainforests & alleviating poverty through sustainable agriculture Our constitution states that:

"We aim to support work on projects whose objective is to relieve poverty among subsistence farmers in the humid tropics, and protect or improv

e the environment in rainforest or former rainforest areas." In particular, we wish to do that by promoting the Inga alley cropping technique, though we are not averse to also contributing to other means of achieving such aims. We are a Scottish registered charity, no. SC039007.

🌱 It starts with a seed, a small moment, a long future.
Children planting today are growing up with a future rooted in healthy soil and standing forests. Learning to plant, grow, and care for the land starts early and it shapes everything that follows.
Inga alley cropping helps families stay, grow, and thrive without cutting the rainforest down or using agrochemicals.

We have now reached our target of £5,000 - thank you to everyone who donated. The Big Give page is still open and receiving funds so you can still help plant the future 👉 https://tinyurl.com/EarthRaise2026

🌱 We have reached 86% of our £5,000 target, so it's time for the final push!
This is what your support makes possible: families planting inga, growing healthy crops, restoring their land, and building a future without clearing more rainforest.
Every seed planted is a step towards lasting change.
And right now, your donation is doubled.
Help us cross the finish line before Wednesday 19th April at midday.

🌽 This maize was grown using Inga alley cropping a simple but powerful way to restore exhausted soil without cutting down more rainforest.
By planting rows of Inga trees alongside crops, farmers can grow food year after year on the same land.
No burning. No deforestation. Just sustainable harvests.
And right now, your donation is doubled.

🌈 Behind every thriving community is a solution that works.
💚These 15 Shuar women from Nayum Entsa, Ecuador planted 500 inga trees each!

Inga alley cropping helps families stay on their land, grow reliable crops, and avoid clearing new rainforest.
That means stronger communities and protected forests.

This is your chance to take real climate action: restoring soil, supporting farmers, and protecting rainforests through Inga alley cropping.
🛠️ It starts with simple tools and a better way to farm.
Through training in Inga alley cropping, families receive the skills and resources to rebuild their soil and grow food sustainably.
No more moving on. No more clearing forest. Just long-term solutions that work.

🌳What We Need Funding For:

🌍Cameroon
🌱Follow-up visits to existing farms to monitor progress and map farmers who have left slash-and-burn behind
🌱Expand into new communities via partnerships with local conservation organisations; establish Inga seed nurseries and hubs
🌱Build a training centre and demonstration plot in Yaoundé as the national Inga hub
🌱Research centre in Mundemba to gather data on crop yields, carbon sequestration, and planting methods; introduce beehive fences to deter elephants

🌎Ecuador
🌱Hire a field assistant to help monitor existing farms and support pruning
🌱Map land use in Gonzalo Pizarro province and extend Inga to all farms and indigenous groups
🌱Support our team members' post-Master’s research with Loja and Reading Universities on soil biology and biodiversity in Inga plots, informed by Kichwa indigenous science

Rainforest Saver is proud to support CAEPA Cameroon in the first steps of planting an inga tree nursery. They will grow the saplings and then plant an inga plot where the local community can come and see health crops growing in the alleys of trees. The trees will be the seed bank for the local community and here they will learn more about this system of sustainable agroforestry which encourages a planet friendly alternative to slash and burn farming.

From 15–17 January 2026, a three-day training workshop was held in Bamenda, North West Region of Cameroon, bringing together community-based organizations and local farmers to strengthen knowledge and skills in Inga Alley Cropping—a sustainable alternative to slash-and-burn farming.

The participatory training combined presentations, group work, and hands-on field demonstrations, equipping 11 participants from four CBOs with the technical and practical capacity to establish Inga demonstration plots and train farmers in their communities.

Participants gained practical experience in plot layout, pruning, soil conservation, and crop integration, and shared strategies for encouraging adoption, including sensitization, advocacy, incentives, and demonstration farms.

Thank you for participating Green Globe Foundation Awat Bertrand, Impact Circle for Nature , CAEPA Cameroon and BAMENDAKWE RURAL DEVELOPMENT WOMEN Organisation. We look forward to working with you in the future.
