Meet Freya 🐶

Freya is a lively, excitable girl who thrives on having plenty to do. Tennis balls are her absolute favourite, and she would happily play fetch all day long! 🎾

Although Freya is confident, affectionate, and loves cuddles with the people she knows, she also has a sensitive and anxious side, so would be best suited to a quiet, adult-only home where she can continue to build her confidence 💚

Pickle may not hear you say “I love you,” but he’ll feel it! 🦻

Pickle is everything you would expect from a young dog: cheeky, mischievous, energetic, and endlessly entertaining!

Despite being born deaf, Pickle is a wonderfully happy and confident boy who never lets it hold him back. He will require specialised training to help him navigate the world safely, so is looking for an owner who understands the challenges that can come with deafness. 💚

A huge thank you to Dobbies for an incredibly generous donation to our Home! 🙌

Our team was absolutely delighted to receive a fantastic haul of harnesses, leads, toys, enrichment, treats, and so much more - all of which will be put to very good use by the dogs and cats in our care. 🐾

Dobbies’ Assistant Pet Buyer, Ellen Haughey, and her colleagues helped organise the donation, and we’re so grateful for their kindness and support.

Ellen said:

“We know how important the charity’s work is in caring for dogs and cats and supporting pet owners across Edinburgh and the Lothians, and we’re proud to play a small part in helping them continue that work.

Pets are a big part of life at Dobbies, and with dogs welcomed in our stores, we love seeing four-legged visitors coming through our doors with their owners. Supporting an organisation that shares our love of animals felt like a natural fit."

This wonderful donation will help us provide enrichment, comfort, play and care for the animals staying with us as they wait for their next chapter, and we know the toys and treats in particular are going to be very popular! 🐶🐱

Thank you all so much for your generous donations towards Dolly’s treatment! 🙌

In just a couple of days, you’ve raised over £4000 and we’ve been absolutely overwhelmed by your support.

We are so grateful for each and every donation and for the generous couple who kindly came in to donate £3000, meaning Dolly will get her surgery even quicker than we could have imagined! 🥹🙏

The crowdfunder will remain open for another couple of days for anyone who still wishes to donate. All funds received will support Dolly's recovery and the wider work we do at the Home.

We will keep you updated on her progress as she heals from the procedure and begins her new life, finally able to breathe comfortably.

Sandler has clearly decided that hats, ties and a little fancy dress are very much his look. 😂

Sandler is a real character who loves his tennis ball, human attention, and tummy rubs!

He’s looking for an experienced home that understands his needs and boundaries. Sadly, due to experiences in his past, Sandler can be protective of things he considers valuable, particularly food, so he needs someone confident in reading his body language and helping him feel safe and secure.

In the right home, Sandler is sure to be a loyal, fun and incredibly rewarding companion 💚

Help Dolly breathe ✨

Dolly was found abandoned and came into our care underweight and suffering from an untreated ear infection.

Dolly is now recovering well but one thing still stands between her and a happy, carefree life. She can’t breathe freely. 💔

Dolly needs vital BOAS surgery so she can breathe more easily. We need to raise £3100 to fund her surgery and recovery so she can enjoy all the little things every dog deserves.
