Taking care of yourself is essential 💜

Caring for someone can often lead to feeling isolated or parking your own self care for others. It's important carers take time to rest and replenish their own energy wells by looking after themselves.

Many carers find themselves feeling isolated or putting their own wellbeing on hold while focusing on the needs of others. That’s why it’s important to take time to rest and recharge your energy.

With dementia impacting most people in some way, more families are stepping up to care for loved ones with dementia, and often at a great cost.

Behind every act of care are countless moments of compassion and commitment. Family carers make an extraordinary difference every day.

This Carers Week, we recognise and celebrate those caring for loved ones with dementia and the many sacrifices they make. Thank you for everything you do. 💜

We want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone that walked for us in the Aberdeen on Sunday! We had our very own trustee Mackenzie P. along with family members Sally, Lucy and Tom who raised over £3,200!

Every step taken, every mile walked and every pound raised helps to support those affected by dementia.

Thank you for walking with us, and making a difference.

This week we honour all the carers who are looking after those with dementia. Caring for someone with dementia can be as much challenging as it is rewarding.

The Dementia Trust is proud to support carers through funding new programmes, projects and ideas that help improve access to dementia resources and facilities through the Disruption Awards.

If you have a loved one currently receiving care for their dementia, then be sure to take the time this week to thank their carers.
