Our Mission - to provide God's Word to all people in a language they can understand, in a format they can use and at a price they can afford to aid genuine encounters with God.

Through the World Cup, let's pray for the countries represented:

Colombia v Uzbekistan

The Colombian Bible Society works to bring the Bible to the country’s population of over 50 million people, among whom there are more than 60 languages. Give thanks to God for the hard work and passion of the Bible Society’s staff and volunteers.

Christians make up around one percent of the population of Uzbekistan, with the majority of people adhering to Islam or secular beliefs. Ask God to encourage the Christians in the country, and to give them wisdom and boldness to share the Bible with friends, family and neighbours.

Through the World Cup let's pray for the countries represented:

Croatia v England

The Croatian Bible Society celebrated its thirtieth anniversary last year; join us in celebrating their hard work and dedication over the last three decades of Bible translation and distribution in Croatia.

The British and Foreign Bible Society is over 220 years old, and has always worked with people across the world in translating and distributing the Bible. As England and Wales become increasingly non-Christian countries, pray for God to bring wisdom and imagination to the Bible Society’s leaders, so that they would find effective ways to share the Bible with people.

Through the world cup, let's pray for the countries represented:

Congo DR v Portugal

The Democratic Republic of Congo is home to around 115 million people, speaking a wide variety of official and local languages. Pray for the work of the Bible Society in the country as they attempt – with God’s help – to produce Bible translations that will enable people to read God’s word in their heart language.

Portugal is a majority Catholic country, with a long history of Christianity and of interest in the Bible. Ask God to use this legacy of the story of Jesus to encourage the Bible Society of Portugal in their work as they seek to share the Bible with new generations.

As we celebrate the world cup, let's pray for the countries represented:

Austria v Jordan

Many refugees have arrived in Austria in recent years, including asylum seekers. Ask God to bless the work of the Austrian Bible Society as they distribute Scripture to these people, so many of whom have lost everything and are facing extreme difficulties.

The Bible Society of Jordan share the Bible with a wide range of people, including both those born in the country and those who have arrived as refugees from surrounding nations. Give thanks to God for his provision for the Bible Society’s needs since their founding in 1972, and ask him to support their work as they look ahead in uncertain times.

As we celebrate the world cup, let's pray for the countries represented:

Algeria v Argentina

Give thanks for the courage and faith shown by the staff and volunteers of the Bible Society of Algeria (BSA). Christians make up less than 1% of the country, and Christianity faces many government restrictions. Ask God to strengthen BSA staff by the power of his Spirit.

The Argentine Bible Society (SBA) recently celebrated its 200th anniversary at a gathering with thousands of supporters, volunteers and collaborators. Praise God that the SBA has such a strong legacy of ministry in its mission in Argentina!

As we celebrate the world cup, let's pray for the countries represented:

Iraq v Norway

Many of Iraq’s Christian population have left the country, due to pressures and dangers in the region, and the Bible Society in Iraq has been using its ecumenical position to find ways to support those Christians who have remained. Ask God to work powerfully through the Bible Society’s efforts and strengthen the faith of Christians in Iraq.

Despite over half the population of Norway identifying as Evangelical Lutheran, most people in the country are not engaged with religion, and only a small portion claim belief in God. Pray for the Norwegian Bible Society as they seek to find ways to share the Bible with this disengaged society.

As we celebrate the world cup, let's pray for the countries represented:

France v Senegal

The French Bible Society serves almost 70 million people, promoting the Bible and finding ways to share it with as many readers as possible. In a secular context, where religion is seen as a very private matter, the Bible Society seeks to show the importance of God’s Word for everyone; ask God to encourage them as they do this.

Pray for the Bible Society in Senegal as they seek to share the Bible in a context where Christianity is a small minority. Senegal is socially and linguistically diverse, and there are literacy barriers in many places.

As we celebrate the world cup, let's pray for the countries represented:

Iran v New Zealand

The Iranian Bible Society in Diaspora seek to share the Bible with all Iranians, both those in Iran and those living in other countries around the world. Restrictions within the country made it impossible for the Bible Society to continue operating there over thirty years ago, but we join with the Bible Society’s staff and volunteers in praying that God will make it possible for them to return.

The Bible Society New Zealand has, along with partners, begun an ambitious programme to record, master and distribute the full Māori Audio Bible. Ask God to use this project to increase Bible engagement across New Zealand, and to aid in the revitalisation of the Māori language.

As we celebrate the world cup, let's pray for the countries represented:

Saudi Arabia v Uruguay

Saudi Arabia is a country of intense contrasts; it has fabulously wealthy urban centres but also harsh desert, wealthy international businesspeople but also struggling migrant workers. Pray for Christians in the country, both those who live there and those who have migrated for work, and ask God to speak powerfully through them against injustice.

Uruguay has a legacy of Catholic belief, but the majority of people in contemporary society are not practising any form of Christianity. The Bible Society of Uruguay are working in this context to revitalise interest in the Bible and to bring people to know Jesus – join us in praying for the success of their efforts!
