Getting to Know Glasgow’s Children- Prospective Adopters Needed!

Scotland’s Adoption Register and Glasgow Council’s Families for Children team are running an information event for approved/ in-approval prospective adopters.

This is the first ever Glasgow specific event that SAR have supported so you don’t want to miss out!

This is an opportunity to hear about the wonderful Glasgow children who are looking for their families.

The event will run on Tuesday 26th May from 18:00-20:00 in Glasgow City Centre (location will be shared once you are referred)

If you would like to attend, please contact your worker to be referred.

Referrals are due by 12:30 on Friday 15th May 2026 and should be sent to the email in the form

For this years National Sibling Day (10th April 2026) SAR wanted to share a positive news story about a sibling group of three, the oldest being 11, finding their family at our Adoption Activity Day held Siblings Reunited - STAR in August last year. Our host agency AFKA Scotland have just published their 3 Good Practice in Permanence Guides today! (https://lnkd.in/eKh66ped) SAR are delighted to have been part of the production of these amazing resources for practitioners working in permanence in Scotland. We think these are excellent and a want to share a massive well done to the team at AFKA for producing these with the support of Scottish Government and other agencies around Scotland.

Scotland’s Adoption Register will be hosting an area specific Adoption Activity Day on Saturday 25th April 2026 at the Greyhope Community Hub in Aberdeen City.

The following agencies are encouraged to refer children to this event:

Aberdeen City Council
Aberdeenshire Council
Moray Council
Angus Council

Referrals for Children are due by 12:30 on Monday 13th April 2026 and should be sent to [email protected]. Please note we will not be accepting referrals for children from any other agency except those noted above.

All prospective adopters are welcome at this event. We would encourage all agencies to speak to approved and those in approval about this event. Closing date for referrals is Monday 20th April at 12:30. All referrals should be sent to the email address noted above

The event will start at 13:15 prospective adoptive families will be expected to arrive for 13:00 for registration. The event will run for two hours. Refreshments will be provided but lunch will not so please eat before attending.

Engagement with prospective adopters has been lower than expected for in-person events so we would just like to emphasise the importance of these events for family finding, if you have prospective adopters who would like to learn more about these events please do not hesitate to share our contact details, we are more than happy to have discussions with families

Scotland’s Adoption Register will be hosting their first Adoption Exchange of 2026 on Wednesday 11th March at Stirling Barracks

The number of children who can be presented as this event will be limited so refer soon to ensure you get a space! Please be aware that each agency can only have two presentations. A presentation can be for a single child or a sibling group.

Due to this the closing date for children’s referrals will be Monday 16th February 2026 at 12:30

If your referrals have been accepted, then video footage should be shared via WeTransfer by 12:30 on Monday 2nd March 2026

The number of prospective adopters will not be limited and the closing referrals date for them will be on Friday 27th February 2026 at 12:30

Please contact your family finding worker to be referred
