We are absolutely buzzing to be in a partnership with !!!!

They believe, like us, that having access to laundry products and feeling clean shouldn't be a privilege.

Earth Breeze proudly reduce, regenerate, and redistribute! For every pack of laundry sheets sold, they donate TEN loads of laundry to somewhere in need.

The Hygiene Bank Edinburgh are so honoured to be the recipients of some laundry sheets to distribute to our local community partners.

We believe this is only the beginning of a truly beautiful friendship.

Introducing The Halo Code!

At the end of Black History Month, we are excited to announce that The Hygiene Bank has adopted The Halo Code, the UK's first Black hair code.

No Black employee or volunteer should have to
change their natural or protective hairstyle in
order to thrive at work. We hope that the Halo
Code will move us one step closer to a world free from discrimination, where all Black members of our community have their identities fully recognised and celebrated.

We will be displaying a copy of the code on our
website and further information can be found by visiting Halo Collective website.

The Halo Collective's Mission is to end hair inequality for good.

When budgets are tight, hygiene essentials are often the first basics to be cut.

The cost of living crisis is making it harder for many people to afford all the basics.

Everyone deserves to be clean and well.

Help us support our Community Partners to keep family bathrooms stocked with all the essentials needed for everyone's health and wellbeing.

Simple but vital basics such as toilet paper, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shower gel, period products, razors, shaving foam, deodorant and toilet cleaner.

Hygiene Poverty 2022 reveals how not having the basics can be a barrier to employment and education, with many avoiding job interviews or missing days at work, school, or college. This highlights hygiene poverty's potential to trap people in a vicious cycle.

From our research we found that 1 in 8 of those
experiencing hygiene poverty have avoided attending job interviews. Nearly the same number of people avoided attending work.

There are many influencing factors like the cost of living crisis and the pandemic, but we know long before these major events over 14.5 million people were living in poverty. Being unable to afford the basics is not a new phenomenon.

Still, our research indicates that the current cost of living crisis is a significant concern for those already experiencing hygiene poverty. As hygiene essentials were reported as being 'bottom of the list' when budgets were tight, the crisis is likely to push more people into hygiene poverty.

Our CEO, Ruth Brock states: "We must break this cycle. Hygiene poverty must be recognised as a uniquely oppressive issue that inhibits people's livelihoods."
