Well it's time for the weekend and we are dead excited for tomorrow, as we will be heading over to Glasgow to help with the end of the Scottish Q***r International Film Festival (SQIFF) with a special showing of the Hunky Jesus Film ! 💫

Not only will there be at least two Sisters to celebrate the film screening, but we will also be joining Free Choice Mary, the winner of the Foxy Mary Contest featured in the film 🏳️‍🌈

Tickets are still available on a pay what you can basis (£20 - free) and the screening will be at the Glasgow Film Theatre (GFT), showing from 8.30 till 10.30pm! 🎬

So make sure to get there in time to say hello and get comfy! And stick around at the end for our Q&A discussion 🍿

Sorry about the Comms blackout, our nun behind the social media scenes has been ever so busy with work and travel recently! But time to get back to it 💜

Now we mentioned already that some of our fabulous Haus members will be in attendance of Scottish Q***r International Film Festival this weekend to be part of the Hunky Jesus Film screening (more on that tomorrow)! 😉

But did you also spot that one of us will be travelling down South next week to support the Cambridge screening, where the film is actually in competition! 🔥

If you are around in Cambridge, there will be two opportunities to see the film, but a member of the Haus will only be there on the Monday! So grab your tickets while you can and come say hello and see an amazing film 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Later on this month will see the return of Scottish Q***r International Film Festival, which is always a great event that showcases some amazing q***r storytelling 🏳️‍🌈

And we hear that there is even going to be a screening of 'Hunky Jesus' on the 24th, and perhaps there would be a Sister or two lurking around to answer questions afterwards 😜

We will not allow our community to be silenced this Saturday!

On 12 September, a Turkish court ordered Meta and X to block the accounts of Kaos GL, SPoD, and dozens of other LGBT+ organizations, parent organizations, journalists and human rights defenders in Türkiye. Meta and X complied within days. The blocking order has since expanded to Amnesty International's Turkey office, independent newspapers and legal organizations.

This digital blackout happened alongside a mass crackdown where more than 110 people now face legal action due to state raids the government dubbed "Operation My Family Is Safe."

Founders and members of some of the targeted organizations are now being prosecuted for founding a “criminal organization,” with “encouraging people to be LGBTI” being cited as part of the case against them.

Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk both market Meta and X as defenders of free expression. But when Türkiye's government asked them to silence LGBT+ voices, both companies folded without a fight: no public explanation and no legal pushback. The people who run these platforms willingly help enforce censorship they claim to oppose.

A tech company that silently executes autocratic blocking orders becomes an active arm of state repression. If Meta and X yield without resistance in Türkiye, it signals to every authoritarian government globally that silencing human rights defenders takes nothing more than a formal request.

Sign the petition telling Meta and X to restore the blocked accounts. Challenge blocking orders in court instead of simply executing them. Restore the accounts of Kaos GL, SPoD, and the other organizations and individuals targeted, and explain clearly why they were blocked in the first place. And publish a transparency report detailing every request the two companies have received from Türkiye's authorities tied to "Operation My Family Is Safe" – so the public can judge for itself whether these blocks were ever justified.

As BearScots is taking place in the caves over Saturday evening, a few members of the Haus will be popping along to bless, confess and impress throughout the night 🏳️‍🌈✨

A reminder to everyone that was interested in seeing the AIDs UK Memorial Quilt, it's still on display at Glasgow Tramway, but not for much longer!

It's only there till the 4th October, so if you have been holding off on seeing this important part of q***r history, now is the time 🏳️‍🌈

This weekend there will be another reading of names on the Saturday, and the Haus will be there again to give support to all those that gather 💜

Our luscious Sister Minnie Pause has been busy over the weekend as she was at Tower Grove Pride for both days, being a beacon of joy on behalf of both the Haus of Nunsense and the Fourth City Sisters 🏳️‍🌈

Doesn't she just look absolutely gorgeous folks, no wonder she has two houses happy to call her Sister 💜

What did we get up to yesterday we hear you ask?

Well Sister Ann and Hench Pup Spry got themselves over to Dumfries Pride, an event organised by the local q***r community and supported by local business 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Lots of live music, community stalls, crochet pride bees, and chants everyone joined in on, it was a heart warming event really showing community spirit ✨

This is why it's so important for us to come together as a community, both to be visible for others but also to rally together to protect everything we have fought hard for over the years 💜

Yesterday was a beautiful and poignant day for us as Sisters as we went along to the reading of the names and first full day of the UK AIDs memorial quilt being displayed at Tramway 🎗️♥️

Although there are some photos of us we could share, it only felt right to have the first post around this be one sharing some of the images of the quilt and letting it sit that each panel you see is a person(s) that meant something to someone enough that they committed to a labour of love to make sure they were not forgotten 🙏🏻💜

Finally catching our breath after the whirlwind of activities we got up to in August! So suppose we best share some more pics of what we got up to 📷

How the sun was shining down on us all for the fabulous Stirling Pride at the end of last month, and it was such a great celebration with the q***r community 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

It was so good to get a chance to lead a moment of silence & noise at another Pride event, and to get a chance to look around the stalls, see some amazing acts, and get to speak to people who were celebrating just being their authentic selfs 💜
