Following on from the Garnier Hall AGM and Trustees Meeting, we would like to outline the current situation, and give you a better understanding of the finances of the Hall.
Firstly thank you to everyone who was able to attend, and listen to the Garnier Hall Trustees. It was great to see some more volunteers step up on to the Committee to drive the future of the hall Forward. It was clear that the community still wants to see the building open and used by the Parish People.
Secondly, a huge THANK YOU to Sean Simington for a very generous donation on the night of £10,000 towards the project cost. It was very well received, and gave everyone a renewed focus that the money can be raised.
Thirdly, we heard this week that the Geoffrey Watling Charity have granted us £5,000 towards the project.
Matt Ingram, Garnier Hall Treasurer presented the Accounts up until the end of November 2025.
TOTAL Garnier Hall Funds (Current Account / Social Club Account) = £14,981
Current Just Giving Donations = £1,800
Quidenham Parish Council Grant = £5,000
PDC Donation = £1,000
Bernard Sunley Foundation Grant = £5,000
Geoffrey Watling Charity: £5,000
MPI Donation = £500
Sean Simington Donation = £10,000
Johnson Family Donation = £10,000
TOTAL AVAILABLE FUNDS: £53,281
It's been well documented that to reopen the doors of the Garnier Hall will cost £90,000, which currently leaves a shortfall of £36,719. WE ARE NOW OVER 59% OF THE TOTAL NEEDED!
Richard Marsh, Committee Building Manager has received 3 quotes to repair the hall, and the committee has a preferred supplier, who is also a local builder. It's also worth noting that quotes ranged from £90,000 (incl VAT) to much higher.
The £90,000 required can be broken down as follows
Structural Roof Repairs & re-tiling = £36,000
Joinery & Wooden Flooring = £19,800
Drylining & demolition preparation = £13,700
Oversite & Slabbing: £10,500
Labour & materials £10,000
It is envisaged that once work commences it will take approximately 8 weeks to complete (depending on the weather).
There is still a lot of work to do, and this cannot be done without the support of the Parish.
If you were unable to attend the AGM, but still wish to be involved, either as a member of the Committee, a volunteer or a Trustee please email the QPC clerk at [email protected] to express your interest, or reply directly to this email.
As it becomes the festive season, maybe consider a donation to the Just Giving Page instead of sending Christmas Cards - online donations can be made at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/savegarnierhall - lets try and get the Just Giving page to over £3,000 by the end of the month!
