Roy took off his hat for the photo finish. Seconds later, his heart stopped. ⏱️
Tomorrow is Day. Come back to hear how our volunteers saved his life.

Tynnodd Roy ei het ar gyfer y llun wrth y llinell derfyn. Eiliadau'n ddiweddarach, stopiodd ei galon. ⏱️
Yfory yw . Dewch yn ôl i glywed sut achubodd ein gwirfoddolwyr ei fywyd.

Would you know what to do if someone collapsed in front of you?

This morning our Chief Executive Richard Lee joined Dot Davies and James Williams on BBC Radio Wales Breakfast. He talked about why CPR and knowing how to use a defibrillator matter so much, and why women are less likely to get CPR from a bystander in public.

It’s a short listen that could make all the difference. Skip to 1:42:20 👇

We have some exciting news.

We are working with Dynamic Business Services to create an interactive, immersive 360° e-learning course that allows you to explore a virtual environment and identify potential hazards that could lead to a fall. The course will also explore the main reasons people fall and why effective falls management is so important.

The course is designed to help care homes recognise falls risks and create safer environments for residents.

It's 👁️
Did you know St John Ambulance Cymru is part of a worldwide family that has been saving sight since 1882?
The St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital treats patients in Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza regardless of ethnicity, religion or ability to pay. Last year that meant more than 232,000 patients – half of them children.
Here in Wales, our Hospitallers' Committee has supported the hospital for decades. In January they presented a cheque for £30,000 to the Eye Hospital Group.
You can help too: £50 = a child vision screening kit £250 = more sight-saving operations £500 = towards a new ophthalmoscope

All those years ago. In a quiet Welsh town. No one knew that it would be a day marked in history. Such a sad day for Aberfan and the valleys. RIP to all men, women and children who died.

Tonight Ebbw Vale division met for the first time since lock down. Our team has worked long hours to ensure the division is ready for members to return once more. On tonight's agenda we had a talk from one of our members who is in the Royal navy.

We feel for our colleagues within the Caerphilly area who have now been placed into a local lock down. We hope you will be back up and running soon.

So it's volunteers week. I am so proud of all the members of Ebbw vale division. I have recently taken up the role of Divisional Member in Charge and since my first steps in the Ebbw Vale division you can see what hard work they put in. Im so proud of you all including our cadets and badgers. Every week you bring your A game and help to achieve all kinds of goals.

You attend various events around Ebbw Vale delivering quality first aid to those who need it most. You guys are a real credit.

This is what volunteering is all about.

Look forward to getting back together once covid is under control,

Rhys
