Steelhouse Panters

Steelhouse Panters We are the Steelhouse Festival volunteers and we are together walking to New York to raise money for Metal For Good!

Every year, a special bunch of people get together on top of a beautiful mountain in South Wales, to volunteer at the Steelhouse Festival - turning up year after year to help make thousands of people have the time of their lives! Seeing each other once a year just wasn’t enough, so last year, the ‘Steelhouse Crew’ started a regular walking group for both the physical and mental health benefits of

chatting, getting out in the fresh air and walking! When the Steelhouse Festival announced that the incredible Twisted Sister would be headlining the Sunday night of the 2026 Festival, celebrating their 50th Anniversary at the Festival’s 15th - a mad idea was formed. TS built a massive following in New York in the 80’s, so it seemed like a good idea for the Steelhouse Crew to walk the equivalent miles from New York to the Festival - a mere 3,400 miles! To do this to raise funds for a deserving charity was a no brainer and the amazing Metal for Good was the perfect choice, supporting projects using music to change lives. We’ll be posting progress weekly, so if you can spare a couple of quid to help with this quest, we would be most grateful!

🔥 We’re making great progress on our epic challenge — and we need YOUR help 🔥
We’re walking the distance from the Steelhouse Festival site in Ebbw Vale all the way to New York… yes, seriously 🌍🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️
After our record breaking walk on Saturday, the Strelhouse Panters took a trip a bit further down the coast and smashed the record a second time. 13 of us walked a collective total of 107 miles! That's 8 1/4 miles each along the beautiful coastal path at Lavernock to Penarth and Cosmeston Lake💪

But this isn’t just about steps — it’s about making a real difference.

We’re raising £3,400 for Metal For Good, an incredible charity that changes lives through music and community. Every donation, no matter how small, gets us closer to that goal ❤️
👉 If you’ve ever supported us, cheered us on, or just love a good challenge — please consider donating. 👉 Even £1 makes a difference. 👉 Share this post to help us go further!
Let’s turn every step into something powerful 🤘

Today is the first day of and to set us all off walking, we have started our Individual Challenge fortnight.

Steelhouse people are busy people and not all of the crew are able to make our Sunday walks so this is their chance to shine!

We have multiple stars today, Julia had done 3 miles before most of us were awake, Alison has given herself a blister by walking 5 miles today, Mike is on tour in Sweden and has won the award for most glamorous photos, and Hellz has taken best-boy Doodz the red Collie out for a lovely walk. Morag and Charley are on holiday for the weekend but have still put a shift in too, all together just with these guys, we're adding dozens of miles into our target. We're excited too as we have found out we have a pocket rocket secret weapon we didn't know about, Allanah is training for a half marathon! 😳 Keep it up guys - your re all awesome 👌 🤘🤘

Thank you so much to National Grid for their wonderful £120 donation last week. The money was raised by the team members that took part in the March fitness challenge. Well done guys! With that and the wonderful £40 anonymous donation this took us up to a total of £1,180 of our £3,400 target! Thank you for all the donations so far for the wonderful Metal For Good

Keep the donations coming - we have a long way to go. Would you like to help us out with the step count? Drop us a line. We have a walk booked for this Sunday and dates for the next month already - including a Saturday walk. We'd love to have you!

Easter Monday we had our first sunny walk - what a refreshing change! And what a day to hit the 1,000 miles mark. We are so blummin' proud of ourselves.

1,000 miles!

That's 1/3 of the way to our virtual target location of New York!

We visited the beautiful Pontypool Park, we were lucky enough to be able to visit the Shell Grotto and the Folly, the views from both were incredible. And we celebrated Alison's birthday too (by accidentally nearly killing her with a surprise super-steep incline!).

We're proud of ourselves and every single person that has donated so far. Keep them coming - Metal For Good need this 🤟🤟

Wow — a huge thank you to everyone! We've just passed the £1,000 milestone for our Metal For Good challenge. Massive thanks to everyone named and to the ten anonymous donors too. We truly appreciate each and every one of you, and we know Metal For Good does as well. Haven't got around to donating yet? No problem — we still need a further £2,400 😬.

If you can spare a few pennies we'd be incredibly grateful; it really helps as we trudge through our weekend walks. Link is in the comments :)

What an incredible Good Friday! 🌿 The Steelhouse Panters battled the gusts and a few showers to log an impressive 51 miles between us at the RSPB Wetlands Centre in Newport — the first of two Bank Holiday walks. Our route was a flat loop around the wildlife reserve and along part of the seawall. It was an invigorating, bracing outing in those conditions, and we’re already excited to return in summer when it feels completely different. This latest effort pushes our collective total to an amazing 963 miles — we’re closing in on the 1,000-mile landmark, a fantastic milestone for the team! A huge thank you to everyone who’s donated so far — your support means the world. If you haven’t had a chance to give and can, we’d be extremely grateful; every contribution helps us back the brilliant Metal For Good . 🤘 Big thanks to The Virtual Studio for the video too!

Braved wind & rain for 51 miles at RSPB Newport — 963 miles and counting! Help us hit 1,000 for Metal For Good. 🤘
