What a busy and fun-filled week we've had!

Monday saw us gather at the Dog and Parrot for a fantastic afternoon of laughter and entertainment. Nigel's Family Fortunes game was a great success, well done to our winner, Brian, and to Steve, who took home the b***y prize! We enjoyed fabulous sandwiches from Charlie's On The Hills, along with excellent service and refreshments from the Dog & Parrot: Real Ale House team. The day was rounded off perfectly with a singalong led by Simon and the band.

On Tuesday, at our monthly meeting, Stephen Flanders brought along a quirky collection of items from yesteryear. Armed with a few clues, we all put our thinking caps on and tried to guess what they were, a fascinating and enjoyable afternoon.

Wednesday was our bowling day, but sadly rain stopped play and so no bowls were bowled, though that didn't dampen the enjoyment! Dominoes, chat and lots of laughter along with delicious cheese scones, fruit and cakes all made for a great afternoon.

This week is a little calmer, and we're all looking forward to our steam train trip on Saturday with Fox & Edwards Events and of course the fish and chips πŸ˜‹Photos to follow!

So apologies, rather a late post on this event held in March, but better late than never!!!

Dietitian, Emily Fowkes, from Nottingham West Primary Care Network very kindly came along to give a really interesting and informative talk to our members on healthy eating.

We learned how to make healthier choices, with suggestions of quality food and recipe books and trustworthy sources of information, websites and apps.

This was followed by a delicious lunch of
Creamy tomato and red lentil soup with a selection of breads
Tinned fruit and thawed frozen fruit with Greek yogurt and a selection of toppers, including dried fruit, seeds, honey
and lots of chat 😊

Heartfelt thank you to everyone who has kindly supported Eastwood Memory Cafe over the past 9 years, we are truly grateful.

This week, we have been delighted to receive donations from Rita (a friend of one of our volunteers), Sue (a previous Eastwood Memory Cafe member), and Elaine, Jill, Elaine and Gill from Brinsley Community Choir.

Thank you all so much for your generosity and for helping us make a difference to local people and families affected by dementia. Your support means a great deal to us and our community πŸ’œ
