πŸ†βš½πŸπŸŽΎ HAVE YOU GOT OLD SPORTING MEMORABILIA GATHERING DUST? πŸ‡πŸ₯ŠπŸŽ―

Sport In The Community 2020 CIC is looking for donations of old, interesting and unusual sporting memorabilia to help us develop some of the work we do within our local community. ❀️

We’re particularly interested in items that can get people talking, reminiscing and sharing their own sporting memories.

And it absolutely doesn't need to be signed, rare or valuable! In fact, sometimes it's the everyday sporting items that bring back the best memories.

We'd love to find things such as:

⚽ Old football programmes, tickets, scarves, shirts, rosettes, pennants, badges and annuals
🏏 Cricket programmes, scorecards, books and memorabilia
πŸ‡ Horse racing racecards, Grand National memorabilia and souvenirs
🎾 Wimbledon and tennis memorabilia
πŸ₯Š Boxing programmes, magazines and souvenirs
🎯 Darts and snooker memorabilia
πŸ‰ Rugby items
πŸ… Olympic and Commonwealth Games memorabilia
πŸ“° Old sporting newspapers and magazines
πŸƒ Football cards, cigarette cards and sticker collections
🎲 Subbuteo and old sporting games
πŸ“Έ Old sporting photographs
πŸ† Cups, glasses, mugs, ornaments and unusual sporting souvenirs

We're particularly keen to hear from anyone who may be clearing out a relative's collection of old sporting programmes or memorabilia and would love to see it put to good use within the community rather than thrown away.

We're interested in all sports and all eras β€” especially items from the 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.

πŸ“ We're based in the Eastleigh area and would be very grateful for any support from people across Hampshire and the surrounding area.

If you have something you think might be suitable, please send us a message with a photo before getting rid of it.

And even if you haven't got anything yourself, a share of this post would be hugely appreciated β€” you never know what somebody might have tucked away in their loft! πŸ™

βš½πŸπŸ‡πŸŽΎ Every item has a story. We'd love to help keep those sporting memories alive. ❀️

We’re really excited to be launching a number of FREE 12-week activity programmes across Hampshire, specifically for adults who may find traditional gyms, exercise classes or sports sessions aren’t for them.

You don’t need to be fit, sporty or confident to take part. Our sessions will be friendly, welcoming, adaptable and focused on helping people enjoy being active at their own level.

⚽ Walking Football
πŸ€ Adapted Sports & Games
πŸͺ‘ Chair-Based Exercise
πŸ’ͺ Strength & Balance
🎯 Target Sports
🧘 Mobility & Gentle Exercise
🚢 Walking & Outdoor Activity
…and more depending on what people in each area would like to do!

You may be eligible if you:

βœ… Are aged 18–65
βœ… Live in Hampshire (excluding Southampton and Portsmouth)
βœ… Are currently unable to work due to a long-term health condition and/or disability
βœ… Currently do less than 30 minutes of physical activity per week

The programme is completely FREE for 12 weeks.

This isn't about being the fastest, strongest or fittest person in the room. It's about getting moving, having some fun, meeting new people, building confidence and hopefully feeling better physically and mentally. πŸ’™πŸ©·

We’re currently looking to hear from people across Hampshire so we can see where the greatest demand is and what activities people would most like us to bring to their area.

A common question we discuss often as a coaching team is ….??

Why do some young players look so comfortable when they have hardly any space?

It isn't always because they're quicker.

Quite often, they're just quicker at making decisions.

One of the things we see regularly when coaching young players is that when there's lots of space, they have plenty of time to decide what to do next.

Take that space away and suddenly it's very different.

Can they receive the ball under pressure?

Can they use their first touch to get away from a defender?

Can they play off both feet?

Can they look up before the ball arrives?

Can they make a decision quickly rather than taking 3 or 4 touches?

This is one of the reasons we're such big believers in Futsal.

The smaller court, smaller sided games and fast moving nature of Futsal means players are constantly involved.

There's nowhere to hide and very little time to switch off.

More touches of the ball
Quicker decisions
Better awareness
Confidence using both feet
Improved control in tight areas
Learning to solve problems for themselves

And importantly

We don't want robots.
We want young players who are confident enough to try things, make mistakes and find their own solutions.

Having spent many years coaching young players and now also working as a Reading Football Club Academy Scout, these are qualities I'm constantly looking out for personally in young players.

Not just who is the biggest.
Not just who is the fastest.

But who can play when the game becomes difficult?

That's a big part of what we're trying to develop through our Futsal sessions. Ca

Our sessions are for boys and girls aged 6–11, and we're currently offering a FREE taster session for new players.
