Eastleigh Spitfires kicked off the new WI year with a very interesting talk from Pam and Debby from Chandlers Ford U3A, telling us all about the various activities, trips and meetings available to members.
We then had a very fun Kurling tournament to send us all home happy and full of Olympic Spirit. Congratulations to our winner Jenny.

10 Spitfires and two guests enjoyed a trip to the Mayflower yesterday to see Miss Saigon. It was powerful and very emotional. An excellent afternoon spent with great company.
Why not come along and join the WI?

Eastleigh Spitfires WI have been busy knitting and crocheting poppies at the request of the Mayor. Yesterday we were honoured to be invited to attend an act of remembrance at the war memorial and join pupils from local schools and playgroups in decorating the bandstand.

12 Spitfires visited a local garden centre yesterday for our monthly coffee club. Teas, coffees, roast dinners, soup, cream teas and cakes were consumed and the chat never stopped.

Tomorrow evening we will be holding our October meeting. This will feature a talk by Matt Wingett on the topic of Conan Doyle's Southsea Stories and Beyond. There will also be refreshments and the chance to socialise.

After voting for the Bystanders Can be Lifesavers resolution earlier this year, Eastleigh Spitfires enjoyed a very interesting talk last evening from representatives of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. We learnt how to recognise the signs of cardiac arrest and the procedures to follow. We practiced CPR on "Braydon" and used defibrillators. We also learnt about the HIOWAA and the important work they do.
The evening finished with an entertaining quiz on the subject of leather.

Last evening we celebrated our 9th birthday. We were entertained by a medley of songs from the 60s and 70s performed by the talented Uke Box Glory with a roof raising sing a long! A delicious buffet followed accompanied by a beautifully decorated birthday cake.
