As most will have seen this week, the Government has announced a social-media ban for Under 16s, from next Spring. It is a issue that has received wide commentary, with varying views internationally. We welcome measures that serve to protect safety for all, and we hope that all aspects of safety are considered as this legalisation rolls out.

We also recognise that this may be really challenging and unsettling for young people, especially those who seek much needed support, community and help online.

As always, we encourage open dialogue - in households, in schools, and in other settings that children and young people are. Ensuring that people can access the help that they want and need, when and how they want or need it, is very important for everyone.

What conversations on this topic are happening where you are?

The measures will see apps including TikTok and Snapchat banned for UK teens early in 2027.

The most consistent bit of feedback we get about our training? The ability to turn fear of role plays, into a love of role plays.

It really is one of the most impactful parts! Always grateful for everyone getting stuck in, whatever role you play.

Have you trained with us and recall doing role play? How did you find it?

"I had no-one else, so to feel part of a family after leaving care is making a huge difference."

The power of connections and long-lasting relationships for care-experienced young people is something we see in the programme. We are forever grateful to be able to work with young people, and help them forge positive relationships, ready for adulthood.

Have a read of this article to learn more about the impact it can have.

How a new scheme for young people leaving care is tackling what was once a cliff-edge for this vulnerable group.

It’s Carers Week! This year’s theme focuses on building carer friendly communities.

We’re currently collaborating with a range of organisations and community groups to explore how we can offer family-led decision-making services specifically for carers n the future.

A huge thank you to everyone supporting us with this, including Millie, Carers Lead at Reading Council.

Recently, our CEO Debbie Burns presented at the Reading Carers Steering Group. We’ll also be hosting a focus group soon to ensure carers’ voices are included in our design work.

If you’re a carer, or know someone who is, we’d love to hear from you. Sign up to our Voice Panels and help us design new services.

Thank you to all those who took part in our annual Problem Solving, Your Way survey a few months ago. We are pleased to share the our report is now available on our website.

Overall, trends continue as previously. Less than half of people ask for help for their challenges, but when they do, it is useful. 89% would consider family-led decision making (what we offer) when seeking help.

We remain committed to ensuring that family-led decision-making is accessible to those who want it, whenever they need it.

The Government have recently released information about funding to support care-leavers create long-lasting connections. We welcome this news, as we know care experienced young people have voiced how impactful work like this is for them.

We are currently delivering the programme in Wiltshire and Portsmouth, and see the wonderful benefits that young people have when supported to create positive relationships.

We hope that funding opportunities will continue to come, grow and be sustainable so that all care-experienced young people can access this form of support, if and when they want it.

A key value of our work is to be family-led, inclusive and reflective of a family's culture. We are so pleased to have been able to support in this way.

If you can help us meaningfully translate resources, we are looking for volunteers to support translating our family-facing information into various languages. Information is in the comments.
