Arrive at 9am and find an empty Rec? Don’t panic! You haven’t been stood up - you’ve probably just forgotten to put your clocks back! 😉

Event 21 – Chilly toes, happy faces!
A cold autumn morning, a definite chill in the air,
But 125 finishers showed up ready to share!
Two kilometres of running, with smiles all around,
And 29 brilliant volunteers keeping things sound!
RD Gary was leading the way,
Making sure everyone had a wonderful day.
So here's to our juniors, who gave it their all,
Whatever the weather, they answered the call!
See you next Sunday at the Rec once more,

They say teamwork makes the dream work… but what happens when FOUR of your fellow Run Directors disappear off to run the nearby inaugural Hillier Gardens 10k?

Well, you leave RD Clare in charge, of course!

While the others were off chasing medals and 10k glory, Clare and her fantastic team of volunteers were busy making sure another brilliant Sunday morning went without a hitch at Hiltingbury Rec!

119 finishers, 26 PBs, 22 first timers and 34 wonderful volunteers - not bad for a morning’s work!

And judging by the results, Clare clearly didn’t need the rest of us anyway!

A huge thank you to Clare and everyone who helped make Event #20 another success.

EVENT 20 – TWENTY UP AND STILL GOING STRONG!

Twenty events! Where has time gone?
And still those Sunday smiles roll on!

119 finishers came out to play,
And 26 PBs were smashed today!
That’s nearly 22% of the crew,
Running faster than they ever knew!

22 first timers joined us today,
With 20 brand new to parkrun — hooray!
And one little runner deserves a special cheer,
They turned FOUR just yesterday - and they’re already here!

From birthday cake to the start line in a day,
Now THAT’S how to celebrate turning four, we’d say!

And between you all, 238 kilometres were covered today,
That’s a seriously impressive Sunday, we’d say!

But before we finish, there’s one more crew,
Our 34 brilliant volunteers - we’re thanking YOU!
From marshals to scanners, timers and more,
You’re the reason our juniors keep coming back for more.

So that’s 20 events at Hiltingbury Rec,
And what a fantastic journey — we’re not finished yet!

Same time, same place, another Sunday of fun,
Here’s to Event #21 — and many more to come!

Small steps. Big milestones!

Never tried junior parkrun? Your first Sunday could be the start of something brilliant!

Join us at Hiltingbury Recreation Ground junior parkrun for a free, friendly 2km for children aged 4 to 14. Walk, jog or run at your own pace - there’s no pressure to be speedy, and a warm welcome awaits.

Every finish counts towards a milestone wristband, starting at just 10 junior parkruns.

And our young volunteers can earn wristbands too! Helping out is a lovely way to build confidence, make friends and be part of the team. Volunteer credits from both junior and Saturday 5km parkruns count towards volunteer milestones, separately from finishes.

Fancy giving it a go? We’ll help find a suitable role (with adult support).

Event number 19 – another Sunday done!

110 finishers came our way,
For another cracking junior parkrun day.

And a special welcome to our brand new nine,
Their first EVER parkrun - across the finish line!
We hope you loved it, had plenty of fun,
And this was just the first of many more to come.

But today’s BIG number? 42!
That’s how many amazing volunteers came through.
Timing, scanning, marshalling and more,
Cheering our juniors from start to finish once more.

So 110 runners and volunteers galore,
Another brilliant morning at Hiltingbury Rec —
Event 19, we couldn’t ask for more!

Thanks everyone — see you for number 20!

WANTED: TOKENS 015 & 103

Two more of our little finish-token family have failed to come home…

015 and 103 — we miss you! 💔

If either has accidentally hitched a ride home in a pocket, buggy, bag or car, we’re offering a FULL AMNESTY.

Return them next Sunday.
No questions asked. No judgement. Complete anonymity.

And the reward for their safe return?

A completely FREE 2km run around Hiltingbury Rec!
(We know. Generous, aren’t we?)

Please remember, our finish tokens aren’t souvenirs — we need every single one back each Sunday so they can do it all again the following week.

Event #18 – We’re back!

After our dog-show break, we returned to the Rec,
And RD Laura had everything firmly in check!
111 finishers came out to play,
Running, walking and skipping their 2k today!

10 first timers joined in the fun,
We hope that’s the first of many a Sunday run!
And 19 PBs — you speedy lot!
Giving it everything that you’ve got.
That’s 17% of everyone there,
PB bells ringing everywhere!

Our average age today was 11,
But whether four or fourteen, junior parkrun is heaven!

And with a whopping 71.44% age grade at the top,
There really was no stopping this speedy crop!
Between you, you covered 222 kilometres today —
That’s quite some distance before breakfast on a Sunday!

And finally, the people who make the whole thing run,
Our 28 brilliant volunteers getting the job done.
Timing, scanning, marshalling and cheer,
We simply couldn’t do it without you here.

So that was Event #18, another one done,
111 children, 222km and plenty of fun!
Same place, same time, when another week is through…
