Pointing Those Toes for dear life, because Strong can be Pretty too 🤭

On my own, I've been working a little on my pull/grip strength, my weakest areas.

To make it fun and engaging, I created myself a little flow on the rings: skin the cat to pencil to straddle to meathook.

I saw meathook and thought that looks cool, and crazy hard dangling from unstable rings with one hand.
Let's try that 😂

No timeline, no pressure, no shortcuts, just staying consistent. Doing, as in how I teach. And being somewhat positively stubborn to 'act my age' or let mid life chaos get to me🧘🏻‍♀️

Today I wasn't feeling that great with hayfever? and a sore elbow. But tried starting with a ring pull up, and ending in a one arm L-sit. Surprised myself and grabbed my phone 😆

It's a cliche but true, that having a positive mindset is everything. Focusing on the good can bring physical and cognitive benefits. Helping to offset negative perceptions of aging, and aid in active recovery through injuries, and illness.

**Second clip is approx 18 months ago. With zero gymnastics experience, aged 48. Life continues.

Sunny Walks, some Yoga, and Chips 🤣

Please come back sunshine 🌞

Walking outside has so many benefits. From helping with weight, and hormone managenent, stress relief, to aiding with sleep issues.

For over a year now, to help with mid life sleep issues, I've been regularly walking outside. I've skipped a few days here or there. However, I aim for at least 40 mins in the morning sunlight.

Don't under rate the gentle power of a walk.

A little clip showing how training flexibility is a super power...

Train flexibility, not just for climbing, but ALL sports, gym, and most importantly for LIFE.

*Flexibility has to be trained with an awareness of stability.
Whether you are in the stiff camp, which includes myself. Or on the other scale, have hypermobility, more attention has to be on stability.

Hi I'm Sophie, your new Fav Asian Wellness Auntie

I share how you too can age like an Asian...🤣

I turned 50 this year, not on HRT, or supplements other than iron/multivitamin.
I've never had botox, fillers or any work done. Heck I don't wear foundation, and I've never had a manicure🙈 Nothing against those things btw, and I'm a wuss with needles.
Pic was taken in natural light by my dining room window. I never edit or filter photos, not because I think I'm stunning, far from it. But because I've got no time to flaff. This is me, albeit in good lighting and angle 😂

Yes I do have my insecurities and health concerns, too many to list right now. So this isn't a brag.
But sharing that it doesn't have to be complicated.Or prohibitively expensive to maintain health, wellness, and FEEL good as we age.

Follow me here, share with someone who needs a straight talking Asian Auntie in their life. Or if you want, come to class. For hard working classes that are effective. And won't waste your time, because who wants that 😘

L Sit Practice Variations

Make sure your wrists are fully warmed up before practising. You can do this by rotating, flicking the fingers, and easing shoulders forwards/back in tabletop/DWFD.

L Sits train the core, hip flexors, quadriceps, shoulders, wrists, and also structural strength in body control.

The benefits include improving joint and tendon stability, whilst simultaneously strengthening the legs, shoulders and abdominals.

Although low impact, L Sit training builds intense overall strength, without the need for lifting heavy weights.

Have a great weekend 🙂

** In slide 3, I meant to say 'come into reverse tabletop'
