💚💛💙 Hope Gap last Sunday Afternoon once the tide had gone out 💙💛💚 A very peaceful visit in lovely sunny warm weather and calm sea conditions 💚💛💙 As you can see the Access Steps At Hope Gap still stand strong and l would use them but will have to make do with the rope in the corner where l propose a new set of steps should be installed to allow safe access and exit to Hope Gap for all and for future generations to come..... as you can clearly see the erosion has been minimal in that 30 foot 10m drop area and it would be ideal for a set of metal steps, a similar but scaled down version of the steps.... but Seaford Town Council can not commit yet to doing so... exasperating the situation as they dither and in.my opinion putting lives at risk if visiting coastal lovers get cut off by the tides..... so easily done at this location.... at the coast is truly wild, deceptive and can be very dangerous indeed 💙💛💚 Visit Our to find out more about our incredible coastline across from and the 💚💛💙

💙💚💛 Not but our neighbours at now has their repaired coastal access and exit steps open after a 3 month plus closure due to buckling caused by a chalk fall..... so the 💚 Bhassexplore- Beachy Head And Seven Sisters Extreme Plastic Object Removal 💙 Extreme Beach Clean 💚 Volunteers 💚 Will be heading over on Sunday to Beach Clean between Birling Gap and all afternoon Sunday 3rd May meeting at the Reopened Steps At 11.ooam and heading out beneath the to Long Beach..... we have been told there are hundreds of kilos of marine debris all along this incredible stretch of coastline and we will clear up what we can and get it all to the bins! We will enjoy views back to the Access Steps At Hope Gap and across the river estuary and in the other direction back to Lighthouse in glorious spring sunshine..... an Epic Environmental Adventure if there ever was one! Our magnificent coastscape needs our help and all are welcome to join us for the afternoons Extreme Beach Cleaning along the shingle beaches as the tide goes out.... and hopefully we will be rewarded by a superb sunset after our Environmental Efforts 💚💙💛 All Welcome and Any Questions Just Ask 💛💙💚 💚💙💛 For A Cleaner Planet 🌏

Thank You Kevin Powney Kev Powney for this great photo of the you took around 21 years ago.... as we can see... the chalk erosion at was barely noticeable beneath the steps.... the huge protective concrete structures are clearly visible having only recently becoming detached from the steps themselves.... the start of the demise of the Access Steps At Hope Gap and a missed opportunity to maintain their protection from high tides and storms that ravage the soft chalk cliffs all around and along the incredible East Sussex coastline beneath the cliffs of and the across the river estuary... Does anyone else gave any retro photo memories of Hope Gap and the steps to share to our for comparison with today's sorry state of affairs.... the steps are permanently closed now due to years of neglect and coastal erosion. ...
