Citizens Advice Eastbourne is looking for a Research & Campaigns Volunteer

Research & Campaigns work is undertaken by every Citizens Advice office in the country. As well as giving advice to individual clients, all workers and volunteers collect evidence of practices and policies which are causing problems. Our knowledge of clients’ problems and circumstances enables us to try to influence change and get a fairer deal for everyone.

We are looking for a volunteer who can spare a few hours a month to help us with this work. Although based in Eastbourne, this can be a remote post for the right applicant.

Responsibilities will include submitting evidence to Citizens Advice on current Research & Campaigns (R&C) issues, as and when appropriate, monitoring and evaluating R&C trends and statistics, co-ordinating and developing R&C work for Citizens Advice.

What's in it for you?
You can:
- Make a real difference to people’s lives
- Learn about a range of issues such as benefits, debt, employment and housing
- Build on valuable skills such as communication, listening and analysing
- Increase your employability
- Work with a range of different people, independently and in a team.
- Have a positive impact in your community.
- We’ll reimburse expenses too
To apply or for further information visit our website: www.eastbournecab.co.uk or email [email protected]

- look out for problems that are common, or are unfair so that Citizens Advice can potentially try and influence the government and other organisations to make positive changes.

Citizens Advice Eastbourne is looking for a volunteer Receptionist.
The vacancy is for Monday mornings: 10am until 1pm.

Receptionists are the first point of contact for our client's that visit the Bureau. They help people struggling with various issues including housing, benefits and employment. They help clients get the right help in the fastest time possible by assessing people's needs and identifying the most appropriate course of action. That might be self-help information, referral to a specialist organisation or an appointment with a Citizens Advice Adviser.

If you can offer a warm welcome, enjoy talking to people and problem solving and can use IT, then this could be the volunteering role for you. No specific experience is necessary as full training will be provided.

Citizens Advice Eastbourne volunteers come from all walks of life and choose to volunteer for a variety of reasons. They include: students, people getting back into work after career breaks, people with part-time jobs, carers and people who have retired.
Volunteers are often looking for new ways to gain valuable experience and enhance their skills, or to enjoy the opportunity to work with and meet different people.

Citizens Advice Eastbourne is looking to recruit a Trustee.

Citizens Advice Eastbourne is looking to recruit a Trustee who will bring a different kind of experience to our Board. We are working to develop a more diverse and inclusive Board of Trustees. We would encourage people from a broad range of different backgrounds to apply. We are particularly interested in recruiting someone who would not normally apply for this kind of role. It is important that we do our best to represent Eastbourne’s communities as well as we can.

For this role, you do not need to have any previous experience of being a committee or Board member, or of managing a team or organisation. You do not need to have had any previous involvement with Citizens Advice.

You will need:
- an interest in volunteering
- some understanding of what Citizens Advice does
- plenty of enthusiasm for learning and helping us with the work we do
- an ability to get on with others and work collaboratively
- a commitment to equal opportunity and inclusion
- good reading, writing and communication skills.

We are looking for someone who shares our values and is keen to take on a voluntary role helping us to develop Citizens Advice in Eastbourne. You will need to devote the necessary time, a willingness to contribute, an ability to think creatively and a desire to learn.

For further information about the role and details on how to apply, please visit our website: www.eastbournecab.co.uk

Deadline for applications: 5pm on 5th December 2025
