What a busy day we've had! We enjoyed a wonderful Hymn Sing-Along at The Hawthorns, Dorley house Residential Care Home and Le Brun Care Home across various teams.

Together we sang timeless hymns, reflected on their meaning and how they point us to Christ. There was also plenty of time for warm conversation and fellowship! God is good. Thanking our Lord for His Goodness.

PARCHE-The church in care homes is grateful to the volunteers from partner churches and to the residents for welcoming us and allowing us to share these times together.

A busy and joyful day at PARCHE-The church in care homes for our volunteer team at Healthcare Homes - Sovereign Lodge whilst another team visited Devonshire Nursing Home and Eastbourne Grange Residential Care Home.

Residents, staff and even visiting relatives enjoyed an afternoon of timeless traditional hymns, warm conversation, and reflections on God's goodness and faithfulness through every season of life. It's a privilege to share these special moments together and bring encouragement, fellowship, and the hope of the Gospel to those we visit.

Thank you to all our volunteers who give their time so generously.

We had the pleasure of joining the wonderful PARCHE-The church in care homes team at Queen Alexandra Cottage Homes yesterday. Grateful for their perseverance, love, and dedication in faithfully sharing the Good News of Jesus.

It was a joy to gather together and see the many ways everyone participates in the service. The sense of community and fellowship was truly heartwarming.

We were also delighted to invite residents to our Summer Strawberry Tea on 14th July and look forward to seeing many familiar faces there!

Thank you to everyone who faithfully serves month after month. Your ministry makes a real difference, and we praise God for all that He is doing through you.

Today we had the pleasure of attending the 10th Anniversary Celebration of Linking Lives Eastbourne
It was a really encouraging event, filled with stories of friendship, connection, and the meaningful difference that regular visits can make to people experiencing loneliness or isolation.

We were inspired by the work being done and the commitment shown by so many individuals and organisations who are helping to strengthen community life in such a practical and compassionate way.
Congratulations on reaching this wonderful milestone and on a decade of faithful service.

📣 CARE HOME MINISTRY TRAINING SESSION 📣

Do you attend a local church in Eastbourne and surrounding areas and have a heart for older people?

PARCHE is pleased to offer the opportunity to gather together to join a live online training session hosted by our friends at Faith in Later Life , featuring Roger Hitchings from Pilgrims’ Friend Society.

🗓 Thursday 14th May 2026
📍 All Saints Church, Eastbourne

Session options:
• 1:30pm - Upstairs - All Saints Lounge
• 7:30pm - Upstairs - All Saints Lounge

Roger will join us and others nationwide via live online video link to share a short talk and option to submit questions for Q&A at the end to encourage and equip those interested in ministry among older people and care homes.

This is an informal opportunity to come along, be encouraged, and find out more about sharing the gospel with older people — no pressure or commitment involved.

It was a real joy to connect with Marion Shoard from Christians on Ageing recently. Marion kindly got in touch while looking for our founder, Buddy Reeve’s books titled '50 Worship Services for Use in Care Homes' and '50 Bible Studies for Use in Care Homes'.

This led to the opportunity to spend some time together in Eastbourne this weekend, encouraging one another as we shared about the many challenges and joys of care home ministry.

At PARCHE, we’re passionate about supporting the local church serving in this context on the ground, so it was especially encouraging to connect with someone who shares that same heart.

Marion has also written an excellent book that shines a light on these important issues titled 'How to Handle Later Life'. We’re so grateful for her wisdom, insight, and encouragement.

We had such a great time at BBTB - Bible by the Beach today! It was a privilege to hear Alexandra Huggins, CEO of Faith in Later Life, share on ‘Reaching Older People with the Good News’, a timely and encouraging seminar.

We’re so thankful for the newly formed friendship between our ministries. Their wealth of experience, resources, and training is a real gift, and we’re so thankful and excited for how this will support and strengthen our PARCHE volunteers in the months to come as they serve in care homes throughout Eastbourne and the surrounding areas.

We are also grateful for their encouragement and commendation of the work we’re doing in Eastbourne. Praise the Lord for His goodness and mercy.
