Psst! Do you want to help bumblebees? Not sure how? Welcome to the world of bumblebee-friendly microactions! ๐Ÿ๐ŸŒ

โ€œYes, but what is a microaction?โ€ we hear you ask.

Microactions are small, deliberate actions that over time build towards BIG results. Their beauty lies in their simplicity โ€“ and their ability to inspire others.

๐Ÿ’ซ Why are microactions important? Each microaction might not change the world itself. But combined with many other microactions they can bring about huge and positive change.

๐Ÿชด Imagine a street with colourful bumblebee-friendly potted plants on every doorstep. It just takes one neighbour to start the trend. It will make a world of difference for hungry bumblebees.

Take part in the Big River Watch!๐Ÿ”

The Rivers Trust is currently running their biannual Big River Watch (19th to 25th September) and you should get involved! ๐Ÿ‘Š

Did you know only around 15% of the UK's rivers are in good health?

To do your part to help restore them, all you need to do is:

- Download the free Big River Watch app
- Spend 15 minutes watching a river
- Record what you see, such as wildlife, plants, or pollution
- Submit your survey

River specialists will analyse the results, and just like that, you've made a helpful contribution to making our rivers cleaner, safer, and better. ๐Ÿ‘

It's not every day you find a Nightjar in your garden! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Thanks to Sharon for sharing photos of their amazing unexpected visitor.

Nightjars are summer migrants, sometimes appearing in coastal areas around this time of year before starting their long journey back to Africa. ๐ŸŒ

Buglife welcomes a new UK National Action Plan on Pesticides which aims for a future of more sustainable pesticide use, and a reduction in risk to invertebrates, but there is plenty of work still to be done.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ "The NAP must be the foundation of a broader strategy to reduce pesticide risks in line with the UKโ€™s international commitment to a 50% reduction by 2030. We look forward to working with the Government to further strengthen pesticide policy, enhance regulation, and ensure that all ingredients in pesticides are properly assessed, safeguarding bees, pollinators, and other vital invertebrates for the future." ~ Craig Macadam, Buglife Director of Conservation.
