INDOOR MIXED STOOLBALL
December Results
Following the initial set of matches last month, we were pleased to host further Mixed Stoolball in early December. It is lovely to see some of the men playing alongside a number of our regular female players from the Tuesday league, in addition to some new ladies as well.
Although the Mixed Indoor format is essentially the same sport, it is different to the Ladies format as we play the Mixed in the whole Sports Hall which attracts a wider array of shots, and requires different fielding options.
We only had the one match on Sunday 7th Dec, where Pett took on H&B. Chloe & JJ opened the batting for Pett, and top scored with a partnership of 70. This was followed by Claire & Ollie, and then Lisa & Owen who scored 56. Jane & Nathan added 48 to take the Pett score up to 187 after their 16 overs. The best bowling figures for H&B belonged to Dale who took 3 wickets fro 8 runs, and Nick who took 2 for 8.
The H&B reply started with a 29 partnership between Georgia & Otis, which was followed by Kath & Dale who added 19. Amy & Leighton put on 33 for the third pairing, which then saw Lucy & Nick top score with 84 in the final partnership, to give H&B a total of 165. Ollie had the best bowling figures with 3 wickets for 5 runs for Pett, while Claire took 3 for 18.
Icklesham played H&B in the first match at 11am on Sunday 14th Dec. H&B won the toss, elected to bat, and sent in Teresa & Layton to open the batting. They only lost a couple of wickets on their way to a 43 partnership. Suzanne & Dale batted second, and top scored with a wicketless partnership of 61. We are seeking more players who may wish to play indoor mixed stoolball in the winter months so that we can make up a fifth or even sixth team in early 2026. If you are interested, please email Andy at Battle Sports Centre on [email protected]
